Need Help...Ford Won't!!!
i have a funny feeling you are not doing something right. i get pretty decent mileage with mine. i think either you are calculating wrong, or your driving habits are causing it. do you let it idle a lot before using it? try another dealer. in the end, worse comes to worse you might need to start talking lemon law
I did a little experiment this morning for ya. Since we live in the same town, I used the computer to ‘show’ me what avg. gas mileage I was getting.
Driving into st pete from I4 – stop/go traffic 9 am this morning – the computer showed I was getting between 7-10 mpg. Jump onto the howard frankland, reset the computer there and just going about 70mph and it showed around 25mpg. Though this computer isn’t the gospel, I think it can easily show how driving conditions can affect your gas mileage.
I have a friend at bill currie ford and will pm you his contact info.
Also – for you and anyone else with warranty issues – don’t tell the ‘new’ dealer that it has been taken in for warranty work and the other dealer wasn’t able to find anything wrong. This was just a note from my friend.

are you fishing?
What the heck is a fleet manager anyway? Fleet sales are ordered from corporate and the closest dealer just does the courtesy deliveries(wash/inspect/temp tags) for about $400 bucks a car.
I don't get what the deal is here, any employee or their familly with an issue with a car just purchased from the dealer here are treated like gold and if there was an issue it would of been fixed long ago....

Called that number 5-6 times spoke with a different rep each time and they reported my case....then said that the Dealership Customer relations rep would get in contact with me. This Phone number is bogus....they offer no real help, they just refer you back to the dealership saying that they have the last say.
The car was not my uncles.... he works over in Fleet sales...i.e all the white trucks and vans...at this dealership also all the Trucks (F150,F250,F350,F650 and Special Editions) are all sold through Fleet sales instead through the main Dealership.
Sorry was quoting this passage when I said "I know it was his" refering to the sales manager...not my uncle the fleet manager. My uncle refered me to another dealershiop first just to see if I get the same results. So taking it to Bill Curry Ford wednesday.
have you checked your plugs? take them off and inspect what they look like... the plugs will tell if the engine is running as rich as you suspect...
there's no leak, there's no smell of gas, so the gas must burn... which would generate smoke if way too rich... relax man, your car is ok.
personally, i don't think there's anything wrong with the car. just fill it up and drive it.

Okay, I'm surprised no one has asked this, but Tampa, did you say you were running 93and then went back to 87? Did you retune for that or just put 93 in on the stock tune? I'm wondering if this might have caused some fouling which could affect the mileage? What say the gearheads?

That is correct Tony...I was getting bad gas mileage when I first got it and a couple people I knew told me to use 93oct because It would burn better. Then after posting on here....users told me to only use 87oct with the stock tune. So I returned back to 87oct. Had the same gas mileage with both octanes...but with the 93oct I was getting annoying drone from my exhaust.
Hey brutha.... try a different approach.... I'm curious to know if it's a bad fuel pump. There is one way to find out. go to a different dealership and start over. tell them you have a problem where when you decelerate after a long cruise, then step on it to pass someone, it hesitates.... acts like it doesn't really wanna go anywhere, then suddenly it runs like a raped ape. There is a TSB on bad fuel pumps.. 06-9-9.. but I wouldn't mention it... for whatever reason, if you do any troubleshooting yourself, then you're all wrong and they won't even consider it. so just go in and describe the above problem. it's something that they can't neccessarily recreate because it's intermittant, but they should know just to replace the fuel pump based on your explaination.
Hell.... if that doesn't fix your problem... at least you know you have a good fuel pump now.
I know the TSB mentions 05 and 06 Mustangs... can anyone say that the problem occurs in 07s? was it something that was corrected before their production run?
