Need Help...Ford Won't!!!

Got it back this morning...they were not able to come up with a problem or result...so I don't know.... guess I will either wait to hear back from Ford Corp. on thier resolution or go out and get a CAI/Tune and hope that it will increase my fuel consumption.

Actually plain and simple Bill Curry Ford told me to drive it faster and harder to get better mileage...saying that driving below the 1750rpm mark is a bad range for the car...even though ever other car in the world gets better gas mileage when you keep it under 2k Rpm's. I dont stomp on the gas...because I thought that would help get better mileage. The dealership doesn't know an answer or what to do!
Like I said you need a long constant speed measure... you eliminate variables of engine load and engine speed that way.

If you want to run your pony with another to get an idea of the difference in fuel consumption just let me know. We can fill up, run to Plant City and back, then refill and compare figures. I pretty much set my cruise at MLK and run 75 all the way out. At the very least its an excuse to stretch the pony's legs.

Thanks Twisted and Jeff..... I may take you up on that...waiting to hear from the Sales manager @ Brandon Ford since my family has purchased over 17 cars from FoMoCo in the past 11 years and that the Service manager told me my only options are either trading it in and loosing my butt in money or Lemon lawing it (which I found funny that a dealership would reccomend Lemoning it).

There is an optimum range within which you should get the best combination of performance and mileage - too low in the RPM range will cost you fuel economy, just as too high with a heavy foot will do the same. You may want to try driving the car more in the 2500 to 3000K range and see if it makes any appreciable difference.
Remember, too, new cars get poorer mileage until they're broken in. I'm surprised at how poor my mileage is, too. I'm averaging about 16.5 MPGs, but that's primarily stop & go city driving.

From what I’ve read so far if you’re not racing from stoplight to stoplight something’s not right. I use to monitor my 2001 F150’s MPG the same way you are. I got about 15 MPG and my girlfriend got about 16.5 when she drove. When I felt like driving a little more aggressive I got about 13 MPG. So if you’re not racing then you have a few options.
I don’t know what the Lemon Law is in FL but after 3 trips to the dealer for the same problem you can keep dealing with Ford or speak to a Lemon Law attorney. It’s free and you don’t have to pay them to represent you and if you win, Ford will pay their fee. Well at least that’s the way it works here in NJ.
I had to go through this process with a leased Chrysler back in the 2000. I brought it to the dealer because the thing wouldn’t stop running after I shut it off. Sometimes for about 15 minutes. After 7 times at the dealer and almost 3 months without the car I got an attorney. Chrysler settled I got all my lease money back and Chrysler got the car. The attorney told me that they settle because if it goes to arbitration and they loose when the car is resold it has to be disclosed that it was/is a Lemon.
Or, you can just try to troubleshoot the problem yourself. By the way, is the car stock or did you chip or flash it with a tuner?

and Tom, why wait. just do it. These are meant to drive. 4 similar equiped (stock) more or less, ponies should give us all an idea. Not that I care anyway, I traded my 05 V-6 for the GT. Soo Big Oil owns me, so what!!

I have posted many times on this forum about how bad of Gas mileage I have been getting in my 2007 Mustang GT/CS Convertable Automatic. I have owned it for 5 weeks now and I have taken it to the dealership 3 times for multiple issues, but mostly for MPG each time. I have calculated my MPG by dividing the miles driven by the Gallons I put into my tank when filling up. I have not gotten higher than 13.5MPG ever. I have not gotten higher than 210miles on a tank. The last time I took my car into the dealership I zero'ed out the Miles on the Odometer and had a half of tank in the car. I picked up the car and it had 43miles on it and a quarter of a tank of gas....but they hooked it up to the "Computer" and averaged 21mpg, the math says more around 13mpg. I have taken it in again this time with the Service manager, and he said he got the same results when driving it 55mph on the interstate when hooked upto the"computer". I called Ford corp. three times now an they reiterated what the dealership said to me and Ford Corp. said that the dealership has final say. I am now waiting to hear back from the dealership's customer relations manager to find out if the will do a "buy back" on my car. All I want is for them to either fix my car or exchange my car for one that actually gets the correct MPG.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem or get some results???

I see you say that you don't get more then 210 miles on a tank. Thats about what I'm getting driving in town. The math on the website I use says 16.8 MPG which is the same thing my IUP says. I use the IUP on my car to tell me what I'm getting and I also use a website that I had posted on your other thread. Everytime I fill up my IUP ends up saying anywhere between 210 and 216 miles till empty.

Just a thought....
Can you fill up the car just before you get on the highway, drive a distance at 65 MPH or so, then when you get off, fill it back up and figure our your approximate mpg.
That may be a more realistic number for your highway milage.

at the dragstrip I had 50/50 87/89 from sunoco, ran much better on that- 13.91 seconds was best I could get(with half tank to boot), on straight 87, 14.02 was best I could get with just over 1/4 tank (both days pretty similar hot / humid, but car ran noticeably better on the 50/50 mix...)
Think I'm averaging around 16 daily driving...can get over 20 with a light foot, but theres no fun in that
something else you might want to try- the pedal recalibration thing-
1) turn key on wait for lights to go out after few seconds
2)press pedal slowly/smoothly to floor- immediately slowly smoothly
release pedal
3) turn key off
if you havent tried this, it really helped mine a LOT...if pedals out of synch, you may be lugging or throttling heavy as you step back on the gas after shifting...this might help smooth it out a bunch- was night and day different on mine, and it was so easy, it really kinda ****ed me off...I had griped about the 'numb' throttle pedal and lag from day one- this really woke it up, took all of ten seconds...
