There should be a process to follow in your service manual. Also, I don't recall if you tried other service departments, but that would probably be another route.

that might explain it...demo car that others beat on to see how fast a mustang can go? then the manager tells you it was his personal car and was babied?

My uncle is the Fleet manager at the dealership....I know that it was his, he traded up and now has a Vert. GT500 that has been supercharged to 750HP. Helps when you are Floridas biggest dealership.

5) automatic transmission not shifting properly (staying in lower gears longer)
Thanks for the info...the only problem is how do you go about presenting this to a dealership to check on... I have a feeling that they are only connecting it to the computer and then giving up, because that is all they keep telling me over and over again. Wish I could find a way to make sure they actually do everything in thier power to fix this problem!

Dude if my uncle was the fleet manager and I wasnt happy with the dealer he was at I would think my uncle would help me out and get it taken care of. I drive almost all in town miles and my right foot is made of lead and I get 17.6 MPG so if you are really getting what you think you are something is up. Have they reflashed the cpu to stock tune for S & G's? Something just doesnt seem right.

What is your uncle saying? Shouldn't he help you out? Have you tried a different dealer? Did you try a Lincoln Mercury dealer? How about the owener of the dearship? For every suggestion you have an answer, so maybe just sell the car and see what you can get for it.
hope this helps.

Maybe your uncle can help you lemonize your ride? Or supercharge or turbo your car, since you already have bad mileage Good luck.

Working on getting a hold of my uncle.... then the owner of the dealership.... selling it would be stupid... because I would lose my *** after owning it for only 5 weeks. The dealership should be willing to fix this since I have had this problem since I have had it since day1!!! Just loved the car and was giving the dealership the benefit of the doubt to fix it. Shame on me for assuming they would get it right.

Listen man no offense here but what is the problem? What can be fixed? I don't understand what a problem is with no real way to detect it. I'd have your salesman drive it with you for a few to show him but what can be fixed? What is it that is wrong? Everything that has been suggested here you have an answer for. Really I'm not attacking only trying to find out some more info!
Have you talked to the salemen on this forum about this?

Best MPG I have EVER gotten is 21.5ish, cruise set at 80mph on a 500+ mile road trip. I get 13.5mpg in town if lucky, usually closer to 12.8mpg. Where I would agree 13mpg on the freeway is absurd, it IS a V8 and sucks down the gas, especially in stop and go. I think you need to do some more calculating.

Btw, the message center has been dead on, fuel economy and amount of gas used. Pretty handy tool.

agree. stop whining here. if your mpg really is that bad, the only explanation is that your fuel system has a leak. i think your calculations are wrong...

f**k the fuel economy!

Sorry guys...don't mean to sound like I am whinning....this thread was started to find an alternate route to take to get the dealership or Frod to do something, I have tried most of what all you answered in your other threads, so I was just looking to see if you guys knew a secret phone number or a method to get results.
Thanks everyone for your posts.

The gas mileage gets better as you drive the car. Initially the car will only get about 13-14 mpg. You will not see the gas mileage improve until you have about 5000 miles on the car. At the moment I average 29-30 mpg on the highway and 21-23 in the city. The type of gas you buy also helps such as Esso, Exxon, Chevron, avoid Shell and cheap gas outlets such as 7-11 gas and cheap Charlie's.

i have a funny feeling you are not doing something right. i get pretty decent mileage with mine. i think either you are calculating wrong, or your driving habits are causing it. do you let it idle a lot before using it? try another dealer. in the end, worse comes to worse you might need to start talking lemon law
