NBC News Journal....
Hey All,
I hope you caught the journal segment last night on the NBC Nightly News. It was devoted to the chief engineer for the 05' (whose name is Vietnamese, and I can't spell it). Most of us know the guy I'm talking about (Brad talked w/ him in 05').
Anyway, the story documented how the engineer became interested in the stang after seeing some of them that were brought to Vietnam as part of a morale boosting effort (60's). The cars shown looked like drag versions of the late 60's Mach I's.
I'm posting this because I really thought it was interesting that the design team had a large poster of Steve McQueen "staring" down at them throughout the design process. The engineer stated that the actual design of the headlamps being "recessed" into the hood was inspired by McQueen's "scowl" on his face. He added that the look provides the "menacing" appeal of the car.
Lots of video of V6's, GT's, and verts. I was impressed with the segment and hope you guys had the opportunity to see it.

I saw it, they did not talk anything about killing SVT. All they talked about was the designers love for the Mustang as a kid and about how he has now designed the best selling sports car. They mentioned 1 of 2 sports cars sold here in the U.S. is a Mustang.
they also mentioned how in a time when Detroit was suffering from lack of appealing cars, in came the Mustang... the savior almost. Talked about how it was the great American icon and how great it looks on the road(dam come to any forum, we coulda told you that!!!!)
Hau Thai-Tang was their too, and they interviewed him asking him a few questions with pics and video of the car, burning out and driving off in the distance. It was real nice, esp since the mass public got to see it and now they know the car, so without question when someone sees me or us in ours they know right away without question "oh dammm thats the new mustang
)))))))) "
