I think you want to pick an argument with someone else in this thread LOL.

You're the one that stumbled into this with your cool guy sarcasm.
Done with you.
I love the P51, F5, and Stampede suggestions. How about 'Fury', from the old TV show about a black horse? (Too violent?)(Beats Mr. Ed, anyway) Or how about a 'Thunder' edition?
As far as the production car being named after the airplane, it wasn't. The two-seater prototype with the rocket nose was named Mustang, and actually had the running horse/tribar logo on it. It's designer did name it after the P-51. When the production Mustang was first designed, its designer wanted it called 'Cougar'. It originally had a chrome cougar in the little corral in the grille! They actually had many names for it, including Puma and T-5. Then Iacocca decided to go with horse names, and actually considered 'Bronco'. When they decided to steal 'Mustang' from the concept vehicle, they weren't sure how to transition the public from the two-seater space-age car to the production model, so they made the Mustang II. This was a production Mustang with a fiberglass nose and tail made to bridge the gap between the two cars. So as the unrelated prototype WAS named after the plane, the idea on the production car was based ONLY on horses. Incidentally, the designer of the production model fought for 'Cougar' till the very end.

Hahaha.
You end up arguing with a wall, and then say ~I~ stumbled into it?
Next time I'll use "plain talk" instead of sarcasm, so it doesn't fly over your head. Or maybe I'll use pictures instead, so your lips don't have to mumble while you read.
The Mustang Triton
-5.4L trition engine (hence the name)
-shaker hood
-Ducktail or no spoiler at all
-wider fender flares for a wider stance
-fogs in center of grille with tribar emblem on the side of grille
-18" chrome rims in front 19" in back
-smoke color headlight covers
-Shaker 2000 sound system (made this up, but instead of one speaker box in the trunk, have 2) with aftermarket head unit instead of the crap thats in there
-only available in titanium silver or black, with stripes available and with optional blue leather interior from the motor trend pics a while back
-lowered stance
-loudest exhaust note available on a mustang
think this would be my perfect mustang

BOSS 281? nah.....
Mach 2? nah....
California Special? BZZZZT, nope
Actually, I really have to agree that the P-51 is the coolest name.
The car should be Titanium Silver, with a black hood, and a "ducktail" style rear spoiler.

Sorry, but I think it deserves the bananas!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm new member, but I have been coming and checkin out all the great mustang stories, photochops and news for about 2 years now. I personally like the Mustang P-51 edition. Titanium Silver with metal flake, lowered about 2 inches, special edition rims, more power, duckbill spoiler, smoked lights, more areodynamic front apron (bumper for those who don't know), Special interior P-51 on the seats and floor mats maybe even some chrome around the instrument bezel and all must be a manual transmission, or maybe the return of the slapstick shifter. Sorry that took so long, any more ideas?

how about the mesteño? the spanish origin for the word mustang. It could be painted in a metallic gold/copper color with a beige interior to echo colors of the southwest deserts. DEFINITELY needs a ducktail, and perhaps instead of chrome horse, etc... a gold one.

Things that are/could be mustang.
Anything to do with speed, respect, heritage, power, destruction is what I used.
