How important is it to have your order be a "Priority 10". I know I have read a lot about it here, but what are the different Priorities? What do they mean? I dont wantto wait 4-5 months for my car!! :bang:

Priority only means something within the dealer's order. Priority 10's are built first, and then count up from there. If your dealer has a bunch of 99's already, and yours is a 98, it will be built first.

At least that's how I understand it.

From what I gather, on special orders it does not matter that much. (Unless it is like priority 99) The priority is set by each dealership and is more important for the unsold, stock orders they place.

Actually, Ford treats stock orders and sold orders virtually the same (remember, to Ford they are all sold units, dealer is buying them). The system will pull the orders in order of priority assigned within that dealer's orders. If he puts yours in as a 30 priority but has no others at a lower priority, you'll be first.

If you are not their only unscheduled unit, they shouldn't give you a 10 priority, that would put you in front of whatever other orders are ahead of you (even though it would be nice). They use progressively increasing numbers to "line-up" the orders based on when they were placed.

Don't worry so much about your number, the big issue is how far down the list are you? Tje only way to find this out is ask. Their daily status report will show all the orders that are currently in the order bank, so you can see where you stand.

you didn't say what priority you are. Do you have a DORA?

Case in point: I ordered my GT on Sept 21, there are 5 other orders in front of me, and my priority is 18. That goes right along with what Karpro was saying.

Mine was ordered as Priority 11. I asked if I could go to 10 and was told no.
There were 6 other orders ahead of mine.

Does this number rank in only that model? If I was a code 11 Mustang would a code 10 Crown Vic get built first? Is code 10 the lowest or is there a code 5 or 3? What is a DORA?

No, Mustangs (and Mazda6's but thats irrelevant to this post) are the only cars built at AAI. Any other car's priority has no bearing on the mustang build priority.

Priority 10 is the lowest.

DORA = Dealer Order Reciept Acknowledgement

Talking

Thanks Grantsdale. I've read many posts but yours seem to be the most knowlegable. Do you work for Ford. You seem to know what you're talking about.

oooh knowledgeable ... haven't been called that on this board before ... usually they are using words

No I don't work for Ford, I work(ed) at a Blue Oval Certified truck dealership for a while, where two family members still work. Pretty much everything I know about this car, however, I've learned from this forum.
