I ordered my 05 Mustang GT on Sept. 25 and have the VIN number and has been "Bucked" and was told its being built now. The report says delivery on Oct 18. The dealer always says that date is optimistic but hey even if its a couple weeks late I'm happy. Can I provide the vin for anyone to confirm build and date?

Hate to say it, but that's not a GT VIN. The "T80" in it is the body code for a six-cylinder.
Added: The GT body code is "T82".

You will be lucky if you see your car in 12-15 WEEKS !!
My personal order-out history ...
'94 Mustang ... ordered 4/30/94, delivered 7/7/94 (10 WEEKS)
'96 Windstar ... ordered 7/18/96, delivered 9/19/96 (9 WEEKS)
'98 Mustang ... ordered 2/21/98, delivered 4/29/98 (9.5 WEEKS)
'04 Mustang ... ordered 1/28/04, delivered 3/10/04 (6.5 WEEKS)
The '94 is probably the best comparison ... the mad "new model" order rush in the Fall of 1993 was probably similar to what is being experienced right now with the 2005. By the time I finally ordered mine in the Spring, it still took 10 WEEKS ... I'd guess the fall rush lead time back then was 15-20 weeks.
How can anyone think that 6 WEEKS is realistic for a 2005 ordered right after the Launch Celebration ?? My 2004 took 6.5 WEEKS with a $3000 rebate attached to it !! The new plant is not THAT much more efficient !!

There are 25000 (maybe 30000) cars on order now. They are currently doing 46 or so cars an hour, 20 hours a day, 6 days a week. Thats 5520 a week, or 22,080 a month. Call it 20,000. So in a month and a half, thats all preorders. Factory orders are built before retail orders. No reason not to expect your car in 8 weeks. 6 is pushing it, but 8 you should have your car.

I'm just hoping by Thanksgiving.
I was told 8-10 weeks after ordering on Aug. 13.
Here we are at 7 weeks. Build date 10/18. And from what I've been reading, almost a month after build date for delivery?
Thanksgiving it is. At least I don't have to worry about snow!!

The first 3 (almost 4) weeks of yours don't count, nothing is being built then.

His exact words were "8-10 weeks out the door in your new car."
(Maybe he works for BON! )

Well, there was that one time in 1998, Dec 07, to be exact that it did snow here.... didn't stick much, but it made a challenging drive to get my X-mas tree

Once they get the first big push and shipping over it should flow good. I believe they want to get as many in the hands of as many as they can. They do not want people to get discouraged and go elsewhere.
