The damage to the bumper is only one of it's legs, and is not massive enough, even at 60, to deploy the bags. If the moose had hit lower, yes, the bags would go off. As it is, the moose was basically a sign post... a tall, top heavy, massive on the end of the stick sign, but a sign post, designed to rip off instead of impair the car's movement.
I am pretty sure unless you actually *HIT the sensor dead on* with a sign post... or a moose's legs, which will effectively do the same thing... it will not go off. The reasoning being that if you hit a sign post that's designed to rip off the ground, the car is *still controllable* and an airbag in your way kind of defeats that.
That moose would have to effectively stop the car dead in the car's tracks to have the bag(s) go off. Of course, it happened the other way around, as the moose was stopped... you get the rest.![Fear](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/fear.gif)

That being said, I'm glad you and the occupants are all ok. Poor moose. Poor car. Poor you. Sorry about all of that, indeed, but the car is replaceable... y'all aren't.
---
THAT being said... I'd like to trade you for the wheels. Not the tires, the wheels. You can have my anthracite Bullitts for those concepts, but I wanna keep my Coopers. Won't affect the price of that total at all, promise.![Smile](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
/Alas, not in your area, or I'd so be doing it, if you/the insurance company would let me.
