Are Mustangs Good Cars?

When I get a car I want a 4th Gen Mustang 
(one of the new ones). But, people keep telling me that Mustangs are of cheep construction, 
that they are unreliable blah blah blah . . . So tell me all u Mustang owners, are 'Stangs really the wonderful American Muscle Cars that I have come to believe that they are? B)

ive never had problems with my '01 that i used to own. that car was fun to drive and such and i only replaced the regular maintenance parts on it nothing special just things like tires and brake pads and such (all due to my lead foot).
but yes they are built cheap, heh cheap people ford builds everything on production lines so they can build everything super fast and not have to pay so much for the materials needed. thus, they sell them cheap and affordible. as for them being cheap crappy vehicles id say no, not with my experience anyways.

I can't complain.
I don't know about V8 Mustang, but V6 is OK, I guess. Cheap interior is only problem for me. I have 2000 Mustang V6 and by the end of this year I should have 2005 Mustang V6.

My last one was 1993. It was flawless at 3 years. I have not owned anything more recently. The mustang has always been about "affordable performance". They cut costs on parts to deliver nice engines at an affordable price. The '05 is supposed to offer both performance and quality at an affordable price.

I've had many mustangs, and there are cars that use better quaility interior components when compared to the previous generation Mustangs. However, as far as well built, I think they are.
Also, the new Mustangs will be built at the same facility as the Mazda 6's. The same friends who said Stangs are cheap would probably drive a Mazda ... So, you can come to your own conclusion there.

my interior on my old '01 GT, i never thought was cheap maybe because it was leather and chrome with carbon fibre inserts with some plastic like always. it looked really fansy IMO. the v6 prob just had plastic, am i right?

Love my 02 vert, have never had any problem with it at all. I know it is only two years old, but I do drive it (29,068 miles) as well as show it. Only thing I have needed on the car is a new set of tires...........and you know why.I will be buying an 05 vert as soon as they are out, I think a mustang is a great car and I love them. :usa:

Even my Mach 1 doesn't look "cheap" but when compared to other 30K cars, the interior doesn't stack up. There is too much really hard plastic inside, and the fitment isn't the best ... However, the good far out weighs the bad. the design itself is pleasing and the seats (especially in my Mach) are very comfortable.
However, for the 2005's I think all concerns about the interior of the vehicle have been addressed. It has a GREAT interior.
Mechanically, the older Mustangs are put together well and I'm sure the new ones will be even better.

The interior will be the make or break the 2005 for me... this will be my first Stang (after a 30 year lifetime of loving the classic Stang from a far).. and if the interior isnt nice, then I may just invest in a classic...
How has the interior been addressed exactly? I know I can wait for the car to hit the showroom floor, but Im impatient) :spin: Is the interior that same plastic substance or have they gone with another product?
I bought my wife a 2004 Acura TSX this year, and for the price... that car has awesome interior (heck, its as nice as higher end luxury cars, imo).. would you say that it would compare with that?

I good benchmark will be the interior of the 2004 F150. People have said the IP is put together very well with excellent materials. I believe the same will happen with the '05

What people tend to forget about the Mustang is that the SN-95 shouldn't even exist. Ford wanted to ax the car but a determined group of dedicated members within the Ford group built a prototype car on their own time, with their own money, and presented it to Ford and Ford's CEOs said "If it fails, it's your job."
Ford did an amazing job with the Mustang considering how many times Nasser tried to kill it off. Don't female dog about the interior, otherwise we might never see a Mustang again

I own a 1987 Mustang GT with 150k miles and a 1994 Explorer 4x4 with 146k. They both have a lot of life left in them!!
I just got rid of my 2001 Mustang GT, so I can save $$$ for the new 2005 Mustang GT. So, I would say Mustangs are very good cars!
But, not in the snow! If you happen to buy a Stang, and you live in a state that has bad winters, I advise you to also buy a winter beater or a 4x4. Keep your Mustang nice and garage it till spring!!
