Mustang Interior Observation....

The remaining GTOs on dealer lots are being heavily discounted. I looked at one for about $28k. It DOES have a nice interior...but it still doesn't do it for me.

I'm gonna say this one last time since the interior has been brought up a zillion times...the Mustangs quality of plastic SUCKS .,..PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
the design of the interior is cool but any plastic the scratches when I SNEEZE is rediculous..Stop trying to hide that fact...PLEEZE I don't care that the car costs 25k plus...thats just being cheaper than cheap..thank you,I am done ranting now

The European cars that the Europeans love for their fancy interiors are still clad in plastic. I haven't seen any 30k USD cars with gold, platinum, or titanium interiors. Everyone still seems to use plastic, even the Japanese. I guess the lack of LCD/LED/VFD displays makes the Mustang interior "cheap"? I agree that it is rather spartan. I don't have the IUP so I'm missing out on the 2 dummy gauges and trip computer. GM and Toyota have displays and gauges up the wazoo.
I've rubbed 303 into the interior panels and haven't noticed any scratches. I'd say the interior in my stripper GT Deluxe is 100x better than the interior on our other Ford vehicles. I'm not complaining at all!

I've always liked the design of the current Mustang's interior, but have always had a problem with the sea of hard plastic. The premier interior trim on the '07 is a big improvement, but too bad it wasn't offered on the '05 when I bought mine. I also like the color combo options offered with the premier trim and California Special.
My biggest complaint about the interior is the numerous rattles (some have been fixed by stuffing insulation in the A-pillars).

Are you on something ?
The flat black, plastic interior along with not being able to see the dash gauges during the day has been a major source of complaints from many different sources, Ford has agreed and stated the interior will get a major review during the next upgrade of the Mustang.
But here again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

That's a 33K car.....a 33K chevy cavalier on steroids. I like the interior just fine in the Mustang for what it costs. Has anybody looked at interiors of some other american cars? Some door panels on other makes just clip on instead of screw on.....and wobbly dashes, etc.? With top of the line needs/wants, come top of the line prices. If the base models and price aren't the ticket for you, then upgrade to the Shelby Models. When all is said and done, the Mustangs have some solid reviews.....and I bet that it's got a 'Best Buy' rating from consumer guide as well. BTW, I drive a Chevy Impala at work (company car), and I laugh at the cheesy interior/fit and finish daily. When I plunked down my $28,400....it was because I liked the interior, exterior & running gear, and projected reliability played a factor as well.

You guys are nuts!! I have a 2006 Convertible with the Parchment interior.
The interior plastic is a joke for a $30,000 car. The plastic is cheap looking and hard. Mold seams are everywhere in the plastic.
I had a 2005 Mazda 3 before the mustang and the interior plastics and trim were great. I'm really shocked that the bean counters at ford decided to cheapen the interior.

The interior is what sold me on the 07. I was either going to go with an 03-04 Cobra or a 07 GT. I saw a pic of the S197 interior with a piller gauges, and it looked like home, so I ordered the 07.

I almost pulled the trigger on a brand new C350 sport MB. I had it for a few days and got bored with it quickly. Lots of gizmos, but still didn't feel like any kind of super-quality that everyone seems to rave about and over rate(don't get me started on japanese cars). I kinda missed my V6...
I drove a few other cars and apparently magazines have different standards for 'fast' for german and japanese cars as well, cause I ain't feelin it..
So I ordered a GT that I am doing custom leather in, probably Saleen HID's and some other goodies.......
I do Ebay sales at my dealership and I CONSTANTLY drive 100k mile cars of all makes, from Acura to Range Rover to honda to Porsche. Regardles of magazine foo-foo, they hold up NO better then any other car(in most cases the more expensive the car, the worse it looks after a few years of use). So the 'quality' perceptions of Ford interiors is rediculous. I drove a 97 112k SHO Taurus the other day that had an interior that held up better then a 98 Porsche 911 Cabrio Carrera S with 30k miles on it(not to mention the top didn't work and the hood struts wouldn't hold the aluminum tiny hood up anymore)-and don't get me started on rattle trap used BMW's.... The Ford stuff is simple, tough, and easy to keep clean. The silver painted plastics on Hondas don't exactly hold up very well after it gets more miles then a magazine writer puts on them, and just about every model now has a rock hard dashboard that is always completely unmentioned in an article.

I have a CTS in stock now probably going to wholesale as it is falling apart. The leather doesn't hold up well either. The thought of long term GM ownership terrifies me as they are all disasters as used cars. I have a C5 with black leather that is horribly cracked, creaks terribly, and the headliner fell off if you are interested in one...The M3 with 70k miles on it that is litterally a rattling junk heap with leather completely worn off the bolster, cracked plastic back window, and creaky worn plastic interior probably looked pretty good new too. I'll take some pics of my junk collection in the back of the dealer next time I do a listing. The M3 and Caddy will crack you up. I'll also take a shot of the SHO.
Nevermind, I forgot its on now:

It was filthy when I got it and the car wash ext wash/int $100 detail got it like this
This mercedes was decent but with 20k miles the carpet had stains I couldnt get out and the plastic display and console were scratched, the clearcoat was peeling off two wheels, and the metal trim on the console and doors was dinged and scuffed. The seats were MB tex and not leather so they will hold up for 20 years though(that vinyl MB uses is the best stuff I have ever seen for upholstery)

This 911 was ok but did have lots of rattles and squeaks and the leather wasn't any better then a Fords with wear-through in the cracks. Carpet had a few holes worn in it too, and most of the buttons were kinda loose.
