Mods to help MPG???

My average mpg per tank actually increased from around 18.5 to 19.5 with upload of the 91 octane Brenspeed tune...at least once I stopped going full throttle all the time to "test" it
Crusing on the highway around 55-60mph, the car will get 28-29 average mpg!!!!!!
(Too bad I usually cruise around 80mph, which is high-23 to mid-24 range)

I'm about the same as 06GT. My 05 will get around 19.1 mpg in my daily commute and about 26mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 75. When I push it to 85 mph, the milage drops to about 22 or so. You are DEFINITELY using more fuel to travel faster. As to be expected with a velocity squared term in the air drag equation!

From the owners’ manual:
Recommended shift speeds
Do not downshift into 1 (First) when your vehicle is moving
faster than 15 mph (24 km/h). This will damage the clutch.
Upshift according to the following chart:
Upshifts when accelerating (recommended for best fuel economy)
Shift from:
1 - 2 11 mph (18 km/h)
2 - 3 19 mph (31 km/h)
3 - 4 30 mph (48 km/h)
4 - 5 40 mph (64 km/h)
When I follow this (which I seldom do) I can average about 17 in the city driving to work. As others have said there is nothing you can really buy to give you any better improvement than the way you drive the car. The key for me is getting into 5th gear around 40 mph and keeping it there. If you’re in lots of stop and go traffic, forget it. Good luck.

I have an Automatic....hard to use a clutch when you are 6'8"...knee hits steering wheel. I honestly almost never take the car above 2k Rpm's...I never step on the gas hard except on Highway entrance ramps....I do not have the IUP, So I just average it, and I am only getting about 220miles before filling = ~15mpg. So this is the problem I am seeing, I am one of the most fuel efficent drivers in all other cars, but somehow I can not seem to get good in this car, no matter how much I stay off the pedal!

Like when I had my 05 GT after a few months burning about it did get a better milage after some time , I gathered for the engine to get seated and all and then when I put a K&N on it got better yet, so I hope the same to be equally true for my 07 GT/CS also with K&N CAL because I can burn 1/2 tank plus per day right now , that Sucks the BIG ONE !

I actually keep a tracking sheet each time I fill up, monitoring 6 or 7 variables each time...I plug them all into a stats program, maybe I'll make some graphs with it later this week and post them up

I've gotten better milage through 5 means:
1) Use cruise control (and the world would be a better place if everyone else did too)
2) Driving habits: accelerate slower (gradually build pressure on the gas instead of surging and letting off as you get to the desired speed) and feel out the landscape. For instance, if I'm doing 40 on a fairly level road or even 30 on a downhill I'll put the car in 5th gear and use minimal effort to maintain speed while not straining the engine. you can also determine better shift points. Uphill I'll shift at 2000-2100 rpm but on a level road it can be done at 1800, and on a downhill I've shifted as low as 1500 rpm. Also, though annoying for everyone behind you (especially me), you could get up to speed before getting to a hill and slow down as you climb then let gravity do its thing on the way back down. Actually, one of the best ways you can get an idea of the most efficient way to shift and apply power is to ride a bicycle on a hilly road. You'll literally feel how much energy is used based on incline and gear.
3) K&N's OEM replacement filter saw gains of about 1-1.5 MPG through the suburbs (mixed city/highway) in my car
4) Cold Air Intake: I saw gains of 1.5-2 MPG over stock. When driving slowly. Of course because the throttle response is better and you get more power, the more you accelerate the more air your engine draws in and the more gas it throws in too. And like theedge said, your driving habits might change.
5) SCT Tune: I bought a tuner made by SCT from Tillman speed with a couple of tunes. Just like the CAI, I saw significant improvements in milage (about 2.5 mpg over stock and about 1.5 over the K&N) when I drive slowly, and 3-4 mpg improvements over the CAI in moderate driving. Just like the CAI though, if you're not careful it'll change your driving habits and your milage will suck.
And as far as the milage counter goes, I use the Average MPG counter (think its only available through the message center that comes with the Interior Upgrade Package) and reset it every tank fill. It's always been exact. The instant MPG bar graph is useless though.

How does this SCT Tune work?? What does it actually do to increase/decrease your MPG?

Temp?
Wind?
Avg Speed?
I'm curious whatcha got and what the results are.
I've been keeping track of my mpg since I got the car. Worst was 16 mpg and best was 26 mpg. Average is 19-23mpg.

My Whipple HO supercharger has GREATLY enhanced my mileage .

The tunes make better use of the fuel and timing to improve the overall efficiency of the engine. I've got the 91 octane Race tune from Bamachips on my car, and I'm getting close to 19mpg now, and I do nothing but stoplight traffic. If anyone's ever been to Las Vegas and gotten away from the strip, you know traffic here is pretty bad everywhere, and worse on the freeways.
I was only getting about 17 before the new intake and tune.

I too am in outside sales. My only performance mod (as of now) is MAC axle backs. It seems that once they were changed, I increased hiway driving MPG from 23 to about 26 when on cruise @ 75MPH.
I admit though, I oftentimes "drive it like I stole it"

remove all scoops and spoilers. smaller mirrors would help also.
keep windows up and air off if possible
keep it waxed and as clean as you can.
35psi in the tires
increase following distance to avoid stopping as much. avoid stopping and much as possible.
some one already said it use the cruise control
You will see a little better mpg's after you get a few more miles on your engine.
Put a superbird nose piece on there. lol
use a light foot........... no shoes just socks lol
OD off in town. I have been trying to use only 2nd and 3rd in town.
the more your car shifts the more energy it uses.
I know most of this is common knowlege ... I was just adding one to my post count.

This might be coincidental with my mileage, but whenever I changed my oil to Mobile One Synthetic, I gained about 1.5 mpg. My car only has 8500 miles now though. I have Borla exhaust, C&L intake and a custom tune. I get about 22mpg whenever I drive it pretty rough and about 23.5 if I easy with it.

I keep telling myself the CAI & 93 oct tune, underdrive pullies, and an aluminum 1-piece drive shaft, along w/ driving habits will all help MPG. My only problem is my driving habits get "more spirited" with each mod, so I haven't realized much of gain.
