Locked out !

It finally happened to me I locked my keys in the car And it was no fun having to get someone to bring me the spare set at 10:00pm at night out in the middle of nowhere no less

So I went to my Ford dealer today and had them make me a key to unlock the door or trunk, no chip in it, and hid it on the exterior of the car.

The old stand by of a coat hanger didn`t work. I could get to the door handle but couldn`t get it to pull back far enough !

Be warned it could happen to you

did this with a old (white/white) 88 convertible i used to own...

was looking car over (before purchase) and started it up...not thinking i got out to listen to engine and shut door (whoops power doors and locked!) i look at owner and say " ummm i think ive locked you out of your car,and umm the engine is running" lol...we both look at each other with the now wtf do we do look...after a min or so of him trying to find spare key (no luck) i see he has a flat piece of medal in his garage so we push against window and hit door lock (nice and easy on these old foxes) and lock opens......i landed up buying car and drove it a couple summers back before selling....

I did that when I first got mine and put it in a magnetic box and stuck it underneath to the frame. I also keep a second chipped key well hidden in the car in case I actually loose it ...

or you could do what I've done and add keyless entry.

I ALWAYS lock the doors with the remote. So, the key is in my hand when I lock the car.

Same here, Choco.... I also always LOOK at the keys/remote as I'm locking whatever it is I'm locking... Car door, trunk, House door, Gate lock, you name it. That way I KNOW I can get back in.

...Except this past Saturday when I... well, didn't. Locked the keys in the car.

My awesome brother came down with, not a coat hanger, but a pair of pliers and a fish tape. The pliers handle let us in the window at the back, and the fish tape *could* have let us in with the handle... but then he said "oh, wait.", refashioned the hook, hooked the keys, and we pulled them out of the window crack.

Tada.

I haven't done that silliness in years. But this time, I was flustered and screwed up.

/I'm liking the keyless remote on the gas cap lid idea. A lot.

That reminds me...my spare keys are useless apparently. The dealer lost my fob during a visit and replaced it with one, but my spare needs to be reprogrammed. How do I do this?

I haven't locked the keys in the car...yet.

which do you need to program? it shows how in the owner's manual.

you need to have at least two programmed working keys in order to program additional spares keys. if you only have one working one, you will need to have the dealer do it for you.

if you want to program the remote fob, then only having one is ok.

Peel and stick to attach, program the same way you would your key fob.

I always seen those in the mustang options list and thought who would stick that lump on the side of a sports car with its sexy lines. I have it on my ford five hundred from the factory but thats a big taurus dad car. Its saved me many times with the five hundred also.
