Locked in dates and dealer delivery dates

I called ERL and it said as of 11/16/06 your unit is locked in for production on 11/13/06 with an eta to dealership on 11/25/06. I was just wondering how accurate are these dates usually? Can I really plan on it being at the dealer on the 25th.

Mine was in the second week of '07 production and the dates were pretty accurate also. Initially it was set to arrive around June 20th, then it moved to the week of July 1st, then it moved back a week towards the end and stayed true. It was delivered to my dealer on June 25th.

The dealer ETA is hit or miss, but your car WILL be built the week of 11/13. That's certain. In fact it will probably either be started (giving you a build date of 11/17) or finished on the 16th.

My ETA went from Nov. 14 to Nov. 21 and now to Nov. 15...

So I assume in between Nov. 14 to the 21....I am just glad it will be here soon...16 weeks of waiting has seemed like years...Good Luck to you...

Hey Robbieg you said that you called ERL. What is ERL. I'm waiting for my car too.
Is it some automated service in FORD.

ERL stands for Evil Robot Lady. It's the nickname people gave to the recorded voice of Ford's dealer only automated phone line set up to check orders. The number isn't allowed to be posted here on TMS.

When ERL gives you an update it's based on weeks and not specific dates.
If you look at a calendar you will see that the date given is Monday in the case of production and Saturday in the case of delivery ETA's.

When you're given a production date of 'week of November 13' it means your car will be built between Monday the 13th and Saturday the 18th.

In the case of delivery ETA's when ERL give you an ETA to dealer 'week of November 25' (Saturday) tells you the car should arrive sometime between Monday the 20th and Saturday the 25th.

In the case of my car I was given an ETA 'week of January 1st 05' and I got the car on Tuesday December 28 2004.

In the case of shipping times from AAI to the dealer, I've seen people get there car in on week, while others have had to wait a month or more.
I think the average transit time is about two weeks.
Hopefully you will get your car in a week or less after production.

The ETA is not a "week" thing like the Build Week. It is an actual estimated DAY of the week. It gets more acurate though once your car is built.

The way the system works, when it gives you an "as of" date that's actually in the future, THAT date is pretty close to your actual build date. So, like I stated, Robbieg's car is scheduled to be built on the 16th or 17th.

I'm just going by my experience w/ERL back in 2004
1-as of <date> unit scheduled for build WEEK OF December 13 <<Monday>>
2-as of 12/14 unit shipped via convoy carrier w/ETA to dealer WEEK OF January 1st <<Saturday>> (car arrived Monday December 27)

So it appears the system (based on my experience anyway) works as follows-
Build Week runs Monday-Saturday
Delivery Week runs Saturday-previous Monday.

Does it really matter who's opinion is correct? What really matters is the consumer finally gets the car they ordered (and knows when to expect it to arrive)

I'm just basing it on all the experiences I've read here on TMS, plus what happened when I ordered my car, (also in '04), plus the fact that I ordered over 400 vehicles from Ford this year.

I'm not disagreeing with your first statement about the build week, BTW.

GM's factory order process takes only 2 weeks. It's not surprising that Ford is slowly losing its market share!
