A Little Emergency Driving
This morning I was on my way to work near the Pentagon when I found myself blocked out of the left lane by a woman taking up two lanes while yucking it up on her cellphone. I slowed and stayed behind her, wishing that I had a megaphone to scream at her to "Hang up and DRIVE!" As we approached the next stop light she moved to the left lane and indicated a left turn. I was watching her carefully, because it was clear that she was an imbecile. Suddenly, as she was half-way through her left turn, she stops and indicates a right turn! I'm now entering the intersection behind her and the light goes yellow. I can't move to the right because a motorcycle cop is there making a right turn. She then changes her mind again and indicates left, but doesn't move. I'm now half-way into the intersection just to her right. Just then a minivan with government tags making a left from the opposite direction, decides to try to beat the yellow light and make his left, but I'm there going straight through and now I'm staring at his bumper. I quickly hit the horn, downshifted to 1st and stomped the gas while making sure the motorcycle was clear and shot through the intersection, chirping second on the other side. I tell you, had I been in my 6-cyl Taurus, I would have eaten blue minivan bumper. One thing's for certain, that GT can get up and go when you put the spurs to her. I shot through the intersection so fast it was scary! I was a little surprised that the cop didn't come back for a look, because when I stomped it, my exhaust noise was enough to scare a few people on the sidewalk. All in all a pretty interesting way to start the day. Sure did show the importance of maintaining situational awareness at all times.
I was surprised with the reaction Monday night. I was on the way to the hospital traveling on a dark road at 45mph. Two dogs appeared out of nowhere right in front of me. I instinctively did a sharp right to dodge and sharp left to get back into my lane! What sway, the car handled perfect!

Friday night my wife and i were going to a concert at the local theatre. We were a block away on a 1 way and a Trans Am was in the center lane with me in the left lane. We approached the interescetion as my bumper was just about even with his front door. He was gabbing on the phone and decided he wanted to turn left. i had to veer into the intersection, luckily no one was waiting at the light. He gave me a poo eating smirk and then turned behind me. What an A**.
Revenge is sweet though, I entered the parking lot from the north entrance and low and behold he entered from the east. There was only 1 parking spot left and he was too busy gabbing so i got it. I just gave hime a s**t eating smirk as he had to leave the parking lot and look for another place to park.
I had the pleasure of being forced to testing out the ABS system from about 60mph yesterday. This pony can shut it down pretty good too! Kept me from eating the rear bumper of an F250. It was interesting, the ABS lets you know it's working (noise)!

But no, it was the ABS brakes. They work good!
My brakes got a work out last night when a full grown turkey and a dozen of her babies appeared suddenly on the other side of a rise in the road.
I was doing about 60 mph, aimed for the gap between them and hauled it down smartly without any theatrics or harm to the birds. It's a good thing too because they'd have made a mess of the front end.
I haven't been much of a fan of ABS but it kept the car squared up throughout the maneuver, I guess some testing in a controlled situation would be prudent just to get a better idea of how it will react in situations like this.

That's awsome....there is nothing worse than someone stopping in the middle of the road and trying to decide what the heck they are doing like they are the only person on the road. That's what cause accidents...What an idiot. I can totally relate on my commute, but I'm sure any1 can. But glad to hear that thing can really roar when you drop the hammer!

I have done 3 autocross events with my 05 (bone stock engine, suspension and tires) and it does handle great. After a 1+ minute blast on the track, the adrenaline is pumping and the rush is awesome. I have to wait until next month to do it again.
To have that rush on the street due to another person's stupidity, however, is not so fun. That adrenaline you get turns to rage pretty quick. I hate moronic drivers!!!

I think murderous rage is a better description
Hehe, but I guess that's not too funny when people prolly have actually killed others for doing things like that :notnice:
You know, here where I drive in the hit and run/red light running capitol of the U.S. I've come to really appreciate my Mustang's ability to stop well, accelerate like a raped ape, and handle the road like it does.
I have to do some kind of evasive maneuver at the very least twice a day. In fact I just came back from lunch and had done 2 about 15 min ago.
Old lady in a Marquis pulled right out in front of me, short stop and turn.
Beat up Honda with a teenage driver darted across 3 lanes of traffic and the "gore" point to try and get on a freeway onramp. I was the lucky guy on the ramp. Quick stop from 70+, he recovered back into his lane and on down the wrong freeway, I gave him half a peace sign.

Last ape I nailed was hobbling away pretty slowly.....
