I was in Santa Barbara, Ca over the weekend and the Ford dealer still had 2 GO Shelby GT-Cs on the lot. Generously marked down from $43,xxx to $38,xxx. My son (9) and I were on the lot for 15 minutes kicking tires and looking at all the 2010 Mustangs and the 2 Shelby GTs up front.

As we were leaving, a typical salesman comes out to ask if I had any questions (a little late for that as I am stepping onto the sidewalk). So I called back to the guy and asked how low they would go on the 2008 Shelbys...he asks "which ones?" (the only ones on your lot?!?!?!) to which I replied "the orange ones behind you...he turns around and says "I don't know, let's go inside and ask the sales manager" - uh, no thanks.

If he had any clue, he would known they are 2+ years old and should be able to go WAY down on them, like the one in Bakersfield I had talked down to $33,800 out the door in February (before the 2010s hit the lots) or the identical GT-C in Mohave that I had talked down to $33,200 out the door at the same time.

Since they still had 2 on the lot, I figured it would be a waste of time to talk to anyone else on the lot - not willing to deal. I was pissed that they took so long to come outside - the weather was beautiful and I could see them looking at me through the window. No excuse.

 

Yes, they will be keeping them at that price. I know a guy that got a brand-new 2008 Shelby GT-C in May for $28,000 after the rebates.

 

i know what a GT/CS is, and i know what a shelby gt is, but what is a shelby GT-c?

 

It's a special edition Shelby GT made for California. Instead of being black, white, or vista blue, like the Shelby GT's we've seen before, they were Grabber Orange.
