Brad, thanks for the supporting evidence...

By the way, I never said that I bought this car for an "INVESTMENT"....
However, I did say that I believe it will appreciate in value with low miles and in showroom condition...

So you think this car is going to appreciate based on that
You ever hear the saying
"Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see!!!!!!!!!!!"
And for the records I've put 17K on mine from Dec 04 to Dec 05.

Yup... add me to the "I don't get it" group. What is the point of owning it if you can't enjoy it???
I have had mine less than 9 months and it has over 15,000 miles on it, and almost 300 passes down a drag strip. That... IMO... is how to enjoy this car!!

Not driving it in the rain...
Wiping it down after each car wash...

I've got 8000 on my 'vert, including a 3500mi road trip from Boston to KC and back a week after I got her. She's not a daily driver, but life is short, and a car like this is meant to be ENJOYED, not rationed like water in the Sahara IMHO

Anybody that's put 75 miles on their car, JUST at the dragstrip deserves some respect :worship:

In response to the above:
I mostly drive her on weekends, maybe 5 to 10 miles. Each time, it is like driving a new car, with that new car smell...
Since I plan on keeping this car for 20 years, I believe it will appreciate in value with low miles and in showroom condition...
20 years from now, I'll still be smiling... While some of you, will be long gone...

Let me say first that you can not buy a new collectable.
Anything that is new is not a collectors item until it's not readily available and people want one.
Can anyone say cabbage patch doll?
To the point of not driving, I get it. I don't think that a car should sit all of the time though. What I get is that it's a personal preference. If you want to drive the snot out your car, that's your preference if not, same deal.
My preference is to not drive in the rain or snow. Some peeps drive all year. Who cares. If your doing what you want, that's all that counts.
I enjoy the excitement of waiting to get my cars ot of storage.
It's like the build up to Christmas.
When you jump in that car after 6 or 7 months of waiting there is not better feeling.
Is the new mustang a collector?
I'll meet you back here in 20 years to discuss it.
Time and only time will tell.

Let me say this to Jeff and his low milage 05. I can understand your thinking,I dont agree with it but I can understand it. I think you have to ask your self one question when it comes to this decision do I drive it and enjoy it or preserve it for the future, Who did I buy the car for?
My answer, I bought the car for myself, I know no one will ever appreciate or enjoy this car as much as I do, not my kids or future kids or anyone else. If you bought the car to preserve it, and keep it showroom clean, did you really buy it for yourself or just for the value it will have to some one else? I mean whos really going to enjoy that cr Jeff? you or some lucky guy in the future that gets a pristine 05 for a nice price? That's what you have to ask yourself?

I've had the car since 5/11, have a little over 1900 miles on her. And to all the people harping on the fact that some of us choose not to drive our Mustangs everyday, here's a few reasons for me:
1. I also plan on keeping mine for a long time. Not as an investment, just because I want to. My aunt still has her 69 vert, and it's so much fun to drive that car. Not saying you couldn't do that in 30 years if you drive the car a lot, but it certainly makes keeping the car in great condition easier if you don't drive it everyday.
2. I have to park in a crammed parking lot everyday. The door dings, bird crap, and general beatings the car would take, I like to try to avoid. Same with driving it to the store, and coming out to see a grocery cart crammed into the bumper, it's for peace of mind on my part. I babied my last car and it still had dings and dents all over it from driving it all the time.
3. Gas prices, now I don't think the GT gets bad gas mileage, but it doesn't compare to the 34-38 mpg I average in my civic. Is the civic as much fun to drive everyday, no, but you can't have much fun in bumper to bumper traffic anyway in the Mustang during rush hour traffic!
4. Not driving the Mustang everyday to work, makes those quick trips to the movie store, etc, even more fun. It's great to get in and have that new car smell and I love it. I guess I'm the type that would lose this feeling if I drove the car everyday.
5. It's America, I can do whatever the heck I want with my car! : )

Coming up on a year in March and I have 2300 miles on it. I usually only drive it on weekends but haven't driven much lately, kept the cover on it. Mostly because I live about 1/4 mile from my work.

Cut this out of today's paper...
I paid $25,500.
I do realize that asking price can be different than selling price. I am simply providing further documentation to support my beliefs...

I bought mine to drive, but to each their own. I can understand the reasoning behind not wanting to rack up the miles. I have 20K on mine, and have had the car since October of '04. I still look forward to driving this car every day. I don't plan on keeping mine for more than 5 years, and am going to enjoy it to its fullest while I have it.

I am doing both: driving it and preserving it. Just with less miles than others...
I get the most enjoyment by taking it to car shows...

Jeff, I, like a few others, understand why you want to keep the mileage super low. I intend to do the same (when I get mine in a month or so), but for different reasons.
My plan is to give this GT to my son when he turns of driving age. I don't want to hand over the keys to car that has 80k miles and has seen better days. I want to hand it over with ultra low miles and in pristine condition.
As for the newspaper clipping, maybe those dealers are still hoping for max dollars on used stangs, assuming they still have huge markups on their new units.
