Least Miles... in a year
#41
Mine is also a weekend type car, although I drive it some during the week every now and then. I'm not worried about low mileage but I do like keeping it ultra clean and out of foul weather. My daily driver ('03 330i) is a fun car also so I don't feel like I'm missing out by not driving the Mustang every day. When I do drive the GT, it always feels like a new car again. That's a nice feeling since I probably won't buy another car for quite some time if I can help it. I have always taken really good care of my cars since I know they are a losing proposition financially. That's just part of the joy of ownership for me.
Anyways, I'll probably put about 3,000 miles/yr on the Mustang.

Dayum.....and I thought I never got out! I've logged just 5000 miles since Jan. 3rd. Still smells new inside and there isn't a scratch on her. She doesn't get out all that often but when she does, she's driven hard. My daily driver is a 2004 F-150 Lariat 4x4 in which I average 18-20k miles a year.

In 10 mos, I have driven her 3500 miles. Not a dent, scratch or stain.
I do believe however that next year, the newness will wear off and I will drive mine a lot more. I don't consider it an investment whatsoever, I just figure I'm fortunate to have another vechicle to drive when the weather sucks.

20 years from now you will be crying that your 26k "investment" is worth nothing. Cars are NOT an investment as they depreciate like crazy.
These new mustangs aren't an investment, nor a collectible, smart guy. If ford only made 20,000 of them then you might have an argument, however that is not the case.

The 1965 Mustang had a production of 559,451 units.
What is the value today of one of these cars in showroom condition...
You better do your homework...

LMAO Touche'
I hear ya Jeff and the rest but I just feel that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone of us. God forbid something happens to anyone of us where we can no longer physically drive our Mustangs (the use of your legs, loss of your shifting arm etc.... death even). What would you give to be able to get back the years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes even seconds you lost not driving your Mustang to "save" it?
Now I also know that if anything bad like that ever happened one of us the last thing you or I would be worried about is driving, obviously family would come first but you get my point.
To each his or her own this is just my opinion.

P.S. My investment will be worth nothing - just like your 1968 GT ...

Good point, worth nothing is in the eye of the beholder. Unless of course you can travel through time! The point is I plan to keep mine for 20+ years as well. Which is why it's being stored for the winter.
The fact that 20+ years from now I can say I have a "like new 2005 mustang" will be amazing.

While I do not have an 05, I bought my 99 GT with all intent purposes to keep the miles lower than the average. To date, my 6+ yr old 99 GT "Limited" has 58,500 miles.
So, with under 10,000 miles a year since new, its still in excellent shape.
I do drive it everyday to work(22 miles round trip), but not on weekends. And as soon as I get my DD up and running again, It will go back to weekend duty again.
While I'd love to buy a new GT, this one will have to last me a while, as I have other plans(mainly restoring my 66 fastback) that have presidence over my future spending.

Who cares how other people drive/don't drive their cars? It's their car, if they want to baby it and not drive it, so be it...If they want to run it and take it out all the time, so be it... It's their car, not yours. The only thing that is 100% accurate is that this argument is pointless. No right or wrong answer.
As to the investment, well...there are better ways to earn money over 20+ years but hey, who cares? It's his/her money. Not mine...
As to whether the cars will be worth anything, who knows? If I could predict the future, I would have picked the powerball numbers when it was at 280 million.
As to mileage...I have 2600 miles on it and I picked it up on May 7th. I have a daily driver I drive to and from work so I only take the stang out on nice days (I have the vert). But the real reason why I haven't had more miles on it is because I'm always tearing it apart on the weekend and modding it someway or somehow *LOL*. Now that's pathetic... *LOL*

Went out for a ride this evening and turned into the driveway with 1,100 miles. Nov 2nd will be one year. Over 35 years of new cars than turn to trash after two northern winters and stone chips galore from crumbled roads. This O5 is better than my 68 and 69 back in the day. Been there, drove them all through the years. This ones a keeper from day one, even better than my Cobra! Just because we can.

I have 6500 miles in 5 months
Its my work car i get mileage paid so I will pay her off in a few years
When I am done and buy my next car i will restore her to as new state and do my mods and have my Garage queen.
This is the only affordable way I can work a "toy" into my stable.

To everyone posting about loving to keep that new car smell. You do know that that smell is harmful, right? All those plastics curing let off toxic fumes that will cause harm to your body.
Now I'll go and spill the beans that I drive my classic mustang about 100 miles a year, so beat that! I wish I could drive it more but it just ain't in the cards with young kids you gotta haul around.
