Jack Point

When my friend works on my car, he jacks the vehicle on the rear differential. I told him the book states not to do that, he told me its fine. They put that in the book because most people jack the car up on the end of it which will rip the cover off. Is he right? Also Whats the best place to jack up the vehicle?

For the rear this is fine, just be sure to use jack stands.

+1

I think this is stated for ppl who aren't being attentive and jack things up, I usually use a block of wood on my jack as well

under the k member. The "ford" book says to jack on the four corners, thats because it was written to change a single flat tire on the side of the road.

rear end I jack under the rearend...front k member. With my jack and my car being lowered I drive up onto some home made ramps to get a couple extra inches to work with.
