Intermittent whine during cold starts
Since i got the H.O whipple installed a little over a week ago, i've started noticing this intermittent whine coming from the engine compartment during cold starts, and last a few minutes till the engine is fully warmed up.
i tried to listen carefully and locate the source of the noise to no avail.
The noise is a medium pitched constant whine, that changes pitch from time to time, and suddenly stops for a few seconds.. returns for a few, then stops completely as the engine fully warms up.
First thing i suspected was the IC electric water pump, but i've heard the sound it makes with the ignition on, and engine off.. and that was more like a light buzz, pretty different than the whine i hear with the engine on.
Please check the video and pay attention to the sound.. it becomes a bit more audible at around 00:25 cuts off for a bit, then returns at 00:42 and so on..
in case the video isn't yet ready or the sound isn't clear enough on YouTube, i've also uploaded the soundtrack as a 192bit MP3
your thoughts please?
thanks in advance!

i couldn't see any vibration on any of the pulleys, or anything abnormal with the belt
in fact it runs just fine.. just give it a few minutes to warm up and the noise is gone.
usually belt slips sound way different than that.. right?

Belt slips sound different. I'm not saying it was a belt slip, but the way it comes and goes does sound like a high speed vibration to me, and the only thing I can think of that matches that would be a belt. Other than that it might be something inside the whipple, which I have NO idea how those things insides work, so I'm no help there!
Sounds like either a belt/bearing or maybe a air leak?
maybe try using a rubber hose to isolate where sound is coming from (least thats what a muffler guy did once with mine)
could it be from here?

that's a good guess, but i had the noise before i installed the water temperature sensor there

once she's back from the bodyshop, i'll probably gonna go around the engine compartment with a Doctor's Stethoscope to see where the heck it's coming from!
