I was quoted $230/month from State Farm on a 2001 GT a few years ago. I'm almost 21, no tickets (that they know about), and I'm on my parents' policy still. My Ranger's $170/month and the Mark VIII is $225/month (290 hp).

:notnice:

Allstate really screwed me on a homeowners policy by counting 2 inquiries about coverage as claims and then refusing to reissue a new policy because "I had 3 claims" when there was really only one claim. I moved all my insurance away from them. I will NEVER do business with Allstate and would advise anyone to stay away from the company that does not care how long you hav been a customer. Allstate stinks! I had been with the for 10 years.

I use Mercury and have had very good luck with them through 2 sets of teenage children years. Check Mercury and I'll bet they beat the crap out of Allstate.
All insurance companies do that. If you call in a claim, they make note of that and it will more than likely effect your rate. Even if they do not pay out any money, it will be on your MRV/CLUE for 3 to 5 yrs. All Insurance companies care about is your money. They could care less about you.

That sounds reasonable to me. I bought my 01 GT new at 35, married, no wrecks or tickets. Didn't think to check insurance before buying, Allstate quoted me $1000.00 for 6 months. That is with multi-car, homeowners, plus age and driving record.

I called around, found it for $500 for 6 months, went back to Allstate and gave them a chance to match. They did.

Now, more horses, more expensive, and you're beating that, sounds like a good deal to me.

When I recently looked at chaning companies for my current GT, Allstate would not even give me a quote becaue they consider it "high-performance" and could only cover it as a second car on a multi-car policy.

I called my agent last week, Liberty Mutual, and based on a 04 GT model, I'll pay about 100 a month, 35 divorced male. She did look at what a price for a higher performance rating (I guess a cobra or mach)would cost and it was the same. She assured me that it should be very close if not the same due to the higher performance vehicles carrying the same rating.

I called Allstate, they had to look on a list (forgot the name of it) and they quoted me 1,053/6months for Houston, Tx. The '05 GT would be covered on a policy by itself. I gave them a 28k-30K price range to work with on the quote. I may trade-in or sell my other car 95 Honda Accord, so I wanted a quote on a single policy.

I have a clean record and am 42years of age Single Male..Harris County is the bad part!

Wow 68shelby, that is twice as much as mine and we are in the same county.
Does a second car make that much difference? I also gave them a price of $28 K
Maybe you should try another agent.

P.S. In addition to the 05 my 01 F-150 is $573 fo 6 months. $1123 for both.

SC67Stang,

Your quote is for the 05 and not the 04 Mustang GT?
For the GT only it is 1,053.53/6 mths
for both cars, it is 1,363.53/6 months

I don't need 2 cars. I am sure I can sell my 95 Accord, it has only 67k+ miles on it and in near excel condition. I am going to have to search for a better rate..

I don't want to pay a fortune for the insurance, otherwise I won't be able to get the car until I save some more money to keep the payments down.

I have an initial quote of 25,940 +TTL for the GT/Deluxe, 17" Wheels, Locking Lugs, Auto, IUP and Anti_Theft.

State Farm quoted me $185 per month and that's for a 25 year old, with a clean driving record, a defensive drivers discount, and a FOP discount ...needless to say I think I'll be shopping around

If you get all the safety goodies and the alarm, it should be a little less then the current gt.

So those options will eventually pay for themselves

Maybe the insurance experts can help me, am I correct in assuming that insuring a vert would cost more than a coupe? I currently drive a vert (loving it B) ), but when I updgrade to my next mustang it will be a coupe, do you guys think that my insurance would change (go down) because is a coupe or stay the same because the car is new.

Being in NJ does not help. I currently pay 3600 a year on my car insurance. :bang:

Most insurance companies are great at the beggining until you have a claim or two.
I was with Mercury for a long time, until I hade a claim. Talk about insurance companies that don't care how long you've been a customer...I will definately never do business with Mercury Ins.
I am with Allstate right now and they are very good to me, "so far"...they are alittle bit more expensive but with the experience that I had with Mercury, I rather pay alittle bit more and know that I am with a very well know company that has been around for a long time.

-IMO-

I despise it when insurance companies do this. Not only are insurance companies betting that you won't get in a wreck, they're also betting that you don't shop around. When we're talking about a 100% markup, regardless of the type of business, I would have asked them to beat the $500 quote before going back with them.

When I drove my '92 Explorer used, I got an insurance quote before purchasing it. I knew I could make the payment, but I wanted to make sure I can afford the insurance, gas, etc. They gave me a certain quote which was reasonable. After I bought they car they wanted to charge me almost double. They're excuse was that my particular vehicle didn't have airbags and the previous quote was for an airbag equipped vehicle (airbags weren't mentioned by either party for the quote). It was amazing the amount of stuff they could do for me once they realized I was about to switch insurance companies.
