Hey guys, sorry to ask this here, but this is where everyone looks. What do you all recommend as the best gas additive to clean carbon out of the injectors? I have classically used Chevron Techron, but I was wondering you anyone had any secrets.

I ask because I have a small miss under acceleration and am hoping this will help.

I have used Techron for several years now. I think it does the best job, plus it also cleans the entire system not just the injectors. Just be sure to get the concentrate. It costs more (about $10) but worth it. I always use it just prior to a smog test and the test results come out very clean.

Why add gas additives so soon??? Most cars do not need this as the are self cleaning.

Not for an 05.....for a 98. Just knew everyone camps here so it was my best chance to get an answer.

Ahhh okay, I understand now. This is very true, I would place everything here even if I knew it would eventually get moved.

B) B) Primrose "Injector Perfector 406"; best I've seen or used over the years.
Hard to locate. Soooo I buy a case, share costs with my buds, save the rest and over the next year and put a bottle in every 6-8K at each oil change.

I use Regane Gumout Fuel Injector/System Cleaner. It comes in a clear bottle and the fluid is yellow in color. Really strong stuff. If you have a really gummed up injector, use two bottles every oil change. Run the fuel tank till almost empty, then add the bottles right before you fillup to mix the cleaner properly.

I was told by a mechanic friend of mine that using that stuff too frequently can cause actually eat away at seals inside of your engine, and cause much greater damage than good. They only put it in like every 30,000 miles or so at the shop, and don't recommend any more than that.

Sorry if I butchered his explanation, but I just thought I'd pass the recommendation along.

Since 1994, Ford has used DRI (Deposit resistant injectors) and a coated throttle body. Cleaning is not supported as a WARRANTY repair.

If you have a drivability concern (Normally with an SES light), have your dealer do a power balance test and go from there.

No need for these chemicals until long after the 3/36 expires.
