What is this piece of Foam for?

Anybody know what this piece of white foam is for under the passenger side? It looks like it can peel right out of here. Maybe it is some kind of pre assembly protection piece or something? It is stuck with some simple adhesive to a small computer box.

Sorry to steal whoevers picture this was.....

Interesting picture. I dont' think it does anything up there. Maybe in the kick panel...

But what I'd like to comment on is the wiring harnesses. When did they stop completely taping them and doing them so "openly"? It kinda looks cool, I think, but I highly doubt that was the reason...

I'm guessin' weight or cost, but...

I took that piece off. I hope it's not like those mattress tags that you can't remove under penalty of law... it looked like slop to me.

Makes it easier if people are adding things in, thats why they don't tape them.

You can pull out the piece of foam, its just used for spacing when they are fitting everything together.

Guess no one liked my attempt at humor.
