Only 300?! Name three other cars on the market that make 300 hp and sell for $26,000.

I, like many others, am gonna buy the car no matter what. If it's only got 300, that's fine by me. A lot more than what I am used to, that's for sure.

Important. But where's the issue? This new '05 Mustang GT is loaded with performance specs! Plus the new design now clearly linked back to the classic days only much better. The new Mustang is win-win option! Grab them while they last!!

Although I really want a SE Mustang, if I happen to end up with a GT, I will be just fine with 300hp car!! Remember, Ford is saying 5.2 or faster 0-60. And high 13's in the quarter mile. Thats dang good for a stock Mustang GT!!
It wouldn't take too much money to get the car down in the low 13's or faster.

 Am I crazy for wanting the new GT with only 300 hp, I don't think so and next summer there will be a 2005 vert GT in my yard. Then I will be one very happy owner.

Honestly,

A lot of people are all talk when it comes to cars.
They all want more, but when it comes at a price, they scour at it.

Brads right.
300hp in a car like this, for that price.

It is human nature to want more, but come on .... reality check here.
This car wil decimate 80%+ of cars on the road.
Want faster?
Buy a cobra....can't afford it?
Save up? Speed ain't cheap

Well there's :

1)$20K Neon SRT-4 making 270 with factory warrantied Mopar packages taking it well over 300 and into the 12s

2)$28K 340hp Dodge Magnum Hemi that'll run mid-high 13s with an auto

3)$32K 400+hp 6.0 GTO for '05

4)$?K 400+hp 6.1L Hemi Charger coming out some time next year.

Point is there are viable competitors for reasonable money and most people are starting to think twice about modding with the way the warranty-***** are operating these days. Not just at Ford either.

I for one would NOT do anything more than exhaust and intake on a new car these days. And I doubt that gets you more than 10hp on the new GT.

Neon SRT4 - 21k (minimum with no packages), 220hp not 270...
Still a neon...still not 300hp for 26k

Magnum RT 30k (minimum with no packages), 340hp for 4,000 more.
again, not a 300hp 26,000 car.

GTO with LS1 is 32.5k (8,500 dollars more... for a car with 50 more hp)
Pricing is not out for an Ls2, even if its in the same range...its still 8,500 more.

Charger with 6.1 hemi (however a 300C with a 5.7 hemi costs 33k)
it WILL be more expensive

Our point is...cheap horsepower...NO comparison....yet

Hmmm 25k for a 300hp car with another 4-5k in it for supercharger w/ intercooler making it a 450-500hp car...I think I like that

Hot rodder rule #1:
CHEAP-RELIABLE-PERFORMANCE
You can never have all 3 at the same time

As far as I know, the Mustang will be the only car with 300hp under 30k. Its as close as you can get to breaking the rule.

My lifted Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L has a 0-60 time close to the new GT's 1/4 mile time. It's gonna be plenty fast for me.

Boomer...
I totally agree
best overall bang for the buck... the SRT4 may be less expensive, but to get it '05 Mustang quick will bring it the same price and it is still a grocery-getter neon.
