Well,,,with all the opinions here, you can see there is really no right OR wrong answer! My feeling on it is that if it is going to be a hobby/fun car, get the stick. But, if it's going to be a daily driver and shared with others, like girlfriends, wives, or friends with no manual experience, get the auto! You really can't go wrong.

A succinct, thorough analysis.

Those are the exact reasons I ordered the automatic.

I purchased a Redfire GT last week with the automatic. All the dealers in Columbus had manual transmissions. So I drove an hour to buy what I wanted. Up until 3 years ago, all I owned was a stick. Including a 1968 Fastback 302. I used to give a neighbor grief because she had a '67 auto. But that was when I was 18.

I traded a 2002 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible with autostick for the Mustang GT. Never used the autostick feature. That was a waste. I think I'll act my age more with the auto. I know I'll leave less rubber behind. I do have to answer a cell phone occasionally or take a swallow. More importantly, I've got both hands available for the steering wheel. Will be using the car for 2 parades a year and don't want my wife to complain about holding the clutch in for an hour.

The five-speed auto is very tight through third gear and shifts smoothly. It shifts faster than I ever could. And I don't have to worry about grinding gears on a missed shift. I am a little concerned about the difference in MPG, but overall I'm very pleased. That's not why I bought the car. What always bothered me about a throaty exhaust and an auto trans was the way the shifts sounded. I can live with the sound of this car. Of course that's because the Shaker 500 is drowning out the engine noise.

To each their own. I personally want a manual...I like the fun and control I have with the car.

If you want an automatic, more power to you. Its all about personal preferance.

Still...won't stop me from poking fun of the automatic ppl out there.

if you are not an enthusiast get the auto, if you are going to weekend race then get the stick, I would hate to have an auto on an autox and have the darn car decide to shift gears up or down in a hard turn and mess me up thats why i got the man.

my opinion is.... manual.

you can't have a mustang and auto... it doesn't make any sense.

my husband said if i was going to get a mustang... there is no way he would allow me to have an automatic.

i have to agree... auto and mustang don't mix.

muscle car = manual tranny
