Maybe a minor, very minor tuning of the new 3v to increase it 10hp, thats all. Maybe a new wheel design as well.
Probably (hopefully?) a limited edition color too...

But he is correct in that marketing defines what sort of SE that they want and marketing also decides exactly what the name of the SE is going to be.

Trust me, anyone working on the SE knows what it is. Each classic mustang model such as Boss, Mach, Bullitt etc. has distinctive features. As I'm sure you know, you can't name it afterwards. Marketting and Ford Brass would have made the decision far in advance and anyone working on it would know what they are building....they just don't want to say.

If he is the structural engineer etc., he knows.....TRUST ME.

Guys, I think (just my personal opinion) we are going to see just a minor "SE" if you want to call it that. I feel we will get an upgrade option that will be part of the new suspension. Something like the Bullitt received. Maybe Ford will add some interior options, again like the Bullitt. But this new SE will not be like the Bullitt or Mach 1. Maybe a minor, very minor tuning of the new 3v to increase it 10hp, thats all. Maybe a new wheel design as well. That is why the Marketing dept is still trying to come up w/ a name. How long did it take Ford to design the new stang GT, now we want them to come up another version w/in months of launch? How did it did take them to design and build the Bullitt and Mach 1? I would love to be wrong Ford. So prove it to me!!!

It would be great if Ford decided to come out w/ the Shelby GT350, Boss, another Bullitt or Mach 1. But I do not see that happening just yet. Maybe in a few years they will add these edtions on too keep the interest up, just as the current version. Again this is my personal opinion and just speculation, but like many of us I am very interested in the new info that will be coming out in the next year or so. I have seen the car personally and I love it. Ford took all the best features of the 65-68 models and formed one great car. Also I am hoping the 290-295rwhp is true. That will be enough hp for tooling around on the street and picking up the kids. Just my $.02
Very good post. I am definately leaning towards this answer.

18's & suspension, minor exterior features (possibly hood scoops), maybe a power bump and interior upgrades

How about, oh I don't know, name it ........... GT-R
Or what about a GTS(ala 1995!) or maybe even LX, like a stripped down GT?

Because you don't make a profit selling a low cost model with a bunch of things stripped off of it. Plus only a few people want such a car. The GTS was not a sales success.

The reason for a SE is to get more buzz on the car and to make a profit in the process. You make money on a SE by putting $500 of extra parts on the standard model and sell it for $3,000.

This is so true, but many of us will be willing and able to pay the extra. Either way, GT, SE, or Cobra, this mustang will be great. I highly doubt I will be able to hold out for the last two if they take a few years to arrive. I am not expecting a Boss, Bullitt, or Shelby to arrive in March. But you never know???

Yeah, does anyone know where we can see a pic of the GT with cloth interior. Doesn't really matter about the color... just wanna see the horse logo on the cloth interior.
This was a picture of prototype seats with the ponies that someone was illegally trying to sell on eBay awhile back...
I like those seats, the stitching on the lower bolsters looks good too

kevin...if you get a chance, take a ruler or tape measure and try to measure the lugs

http://www.mrt-wheels.com/boltpattern.html

maybe we could get a ballpark figure of the new bolt pattern

thanks!

Great suggestion!

If there is a Ford engineer there make sure you ask them about the lug pattern and wheel offset!

I didnt bother much with the Ford reps, they wont tell you much anyway. I didn't think to measure the bolt spacing either. All in all, I thought the 17's looked darn fine on the car. What most of the pics I have seen have not represented well how CURVED the rear quarter and lower doors are  I had no idea. if you stand on the front quarter and look down, it is more curvatious then the 60s stang ever was, reminds me more of 67-68 F-bodies with that wonderfull lower rear quarter. The aluminum hood is incredibly light, reminds me of the RX7. I really dont think the car needs much modification, even the mirrors look much better in person.

The main thing was the interior, the gauge cluster was phenominal, and yes you adjust the colors in the message center controls on the center console. The aluminum on the dash is ribbed exactly like t-bird and looks great. Nothing looks cheap, I will post some non-flash photos of the interior tonite or tomorrow The shifter position is fantastic, seat bolsters are decent and overall ergos are better then I even expected. With my Focus, which is perfect CAD engineered ergos 101, I was thinking that this car better be right to make me jump out of my SVT. Well this one is a ringer 100% The current car is a darn torture chamber next to the 05.

I also made a point to take a SUPER close up of the headlight design, and several down the side from above shots to show how much the car curves. I dont have any clue why anyone would be worried from the rear how the mufflers look, its fine.Absolutely amazing car for the money, this thing is going to be HUGE. Even the spoiler looks decent in real life. If this is production paint quality, its incredible. They should of done a Torch or sonic for the drive, the redfire is WAY too comon a color for this car. I was expecting a nice car, this thing is sick.

I realized these things back in Jan at NAIAS. This car is far nicer than the current. that is what has kept me from taking advantage of the deals on current Cobras and Machs. This car ROCKS.

I like how the rear and the doors curve under, most of the pics dont show how bowed the side of the car is, its not flat at all:

Ahhh. Reminds me of my long lost '67. I love the curves! That pic just revived the '05 Mustang lust in me!!
