Just a quick comment on Mach 1 weight. According to the order paper I have, the shipping weight is 3317lbs. Many of the magazines have reported 3430lbs, which would include the amount for fluids (gasoline, antifreeze, etc.). Since gas weighs 6lbs/gal, this would account for about 96lbs of the weight above 3317.

To people complaining about the weight:
Do you realize that a BMW M3 weighs 3415 lbs, has over 50ft-lbs less torque than the 05 GT, and goes 0-60 in 4.8 sec?

Speculations, speculations and again speculations....Please someone give me a solid proof of a SE coming out not too long after the GT... :worship:

If you want to call that speculation go ahead.
Of course the best laid plans of mice and men are always subject to change, so who knows. The 18" wheels on the GT are a perfect example of this.

I'm not a racer, but to me this thing has more power than anyone in their right mind needs for driving on the street.

I missed on that one, great read thanks for all the hard work, but as long as i don't hear or see it officially from Ford, i'm not gonna be a believer. But hopefully what he said was right, i'll be the first one in line to get whatever SE they build for March. That's been my goal since the beginning, to get a SE. I'm willing to wait till next spring for sure.....

So what does the cost have to do with the performance, given the specs I listed?

Plenty. Buy a base GT for $24k and then add as much in mods to make it a total of the cost of an M3 and you've got something that can blow one off the road.
Comparing a luxury sport coupe with a Mustang just doesn't fly.

Kotzen,
I think you are overcomplicating the comparison, people were complaining that the Mustang is a heavy car to the little tin boxes like the evo and sti. All mkoesel wanted to point out is that it is about the same weight as the M3, one of the ultimate sports cars.
I agree that the cars are in two different classes, but it just goes to show that the 'stang is not a big fat cruiser.
