My Mustang I ordered, it's my 1st new car EVER, and only the second car I will have ever owned (I'm 29, and haven't owned a car since I was 20), so this car will be with me FOR A LONG TIME! The only thing that will make me even CONSIDER trading it, would be for a Bullitt Edition, in 2008, IF they make it, (which I don't think they will, with licensing issues and all). Short of that car coming out, this will be my "baby" for a long time, and will be taking it to many a car show in my area. BTW, great idea for a post.

I figure to keep this for the long haul. I've finally hit the year mark with it and I'm still not tired of it, something I can't say about any previous car I've owned. This thing is just to classic to get rid of. I figure after 5 years I can get another and keep this if I just want something new or if there's a SE I really want around that time. I honestly hope this is something my kids get to drive though. I certainly wish my dad had hung onto his Mustangs, maybe I can hold onto this one for my kids.

This one was bought to keep for the long haul and nothing in the last 5 months has changed that thought. You never know what the future may bring, but all things remaining equal (ie. health. finances et al), this car will be part of my legacy. The Grandkids will say "We're so glad GrandDad kept the Mustang all those years." Just hope they don't fight over it when I m gone.

I agree with a bunch of you! This Mustang will have to last me a very long time. Like 10+ years!

Since this is my first car I bought, I would love to keep this car forever. Also I want to keep it as long as my loan is for it (5 years). I don't know where I will be in 5 years but ideally, I would still be driving this car.
Bingo, what this guy said. Sure, a special edition would be tempting, but I looooove my car as much as the day I bought it, so... I doubt it. Now, if I win the lottery, I will also buy every other new Mustang... but I'm keepin' this one!

Ditto on the indefinetly. I've been waiting for this car since I was 11 years old (38 now) when I used to deliver papers and this guy had a '67. I loved that car and have been hooked ever since. Never thought I'd own a Mustang because I didn't want anything but this style. Loving it!!!!

I would like to say forever but, I haven't made it past 4 years with a car yet. If/when it gets replaced, it will hopefully be another Mustang if they don't mess it up. Maybe then I'll have to keep this one.
I would like to add a new Explorer to the garage sometime down the road but, I need to find a bag of money first!

I'm surprised with the amount of 5+ years. I know many folks who just buy a car and trade it in for a new one every 2 or 3 years. I don't know why, but they do.

My daughter keeps telling me it's my new grandson's inheritance.
I guess that means I only get to keep it for 16 years.
Hopefully, Ford comes up with something better by then.

I am the only one that voted for 3 years...this because I believe Dodge will produce the new Challenger (ETA: 2008/2009) and as I already said I love the way it looks and I am gonna get one when it comes out (if hopefully they will keep more or less the same retro design...if they "chargerize" it, no thanks).
If not for the Challenger, I'd probably keep my GT for ages...

My plan for this car is simple... use it as my everyday car for 5 or 6 years (~100K-120K miles). Since I don't have to worry about smog inspections until 2011, I can mod away and have an awesome 11-sec daily driver for the next 5+ years.

After that time, it will be rebuilt as a dedicated drag racer... at least a 9-sec car, if not better. And I'll race it until I'm too old to do that anymore (I'm 47 now).

And when I finally assume room temperature... I told my wife I want to be buried in it. Do NOT under any circumstances let any of the kids have it!! :nono:

I generally keep my cars over 10 years. I went 12 years before I got the stang. I am lucky I have a company car, so I only drive her on the weekends. She even gets a private garage......

It's my daily driver that I use for work, 3~4 years tops.
