How do I clean under hood of 2005?
Hey guys, I just got a 2005 mustang that was converted from a V6 to a V8 and the car is really dirty under the hood from the swapping of engines( apparently the previous owner didnt care about this as much as I do). I want to use engine cleaner to clean it up a little (its very dusty/dirty to my liking). Is there anything that i cant get wet when i do this or do you suggest a better way? Also he used "hi temp" paint to paint the fuel rails, valve covers, throttle body etc and it is flaking pretty bad. How should i attempt to clean this up? Thanks!

A picture would help, but I would suspect with the paint there's not much to do other than either re-paint it or remove the rest of it.
I like simple green for an all-purpose cleaner/de-greaser. I also like to use no-touch tire shine on rubber, it does a nice job of cleaning and shining.
You can use a hose, just make sure you don't spray it liberally in there. Just use enough to rinse away what you've cleaned.
The best way to clean it really is good old elbow grease and a lot of simple green. That's how I'd do it
