Note this:

To stoke interest, Ford will introduce a special edition version of the Mustang every so often, said J Mays, the automaker's group vice resident of design.

"You will, for sure, see something different in '06, '07, '08 and '09," Mays said. "But they will be in limited volumes that will make people think, 'I need to get my hands on that.'"

I'll probably have to wait til 08 or 09 to get an SE. But I'm sure it'll be worth it. I'll enjoy my 05GT until then.

'I need to get my hands on that.'

Yes, I do.

Does that seem like a lot of money in tax breaks and grants? Or is that normal?

The whole tax/grant thing really peeves me off - I don't know about you but I feel like the cost of the car should include all the training for their employees. Instead all the taxpayers are hit. When my company introduces new software the bottom line is hit with a training cost. The owners don't expect the feds to train us!

Grrr...

Merely speculation speaking here, and keep in mind I'm 17 years old, but I suspect that the American goverment recognizes the importance of the United States automakers. I think we'll see more and more help in the future. I'm not so much into this socialistic approach, but the free market has allowed Japanese companies to intrude so much that they caught the Americans on their ciesta .. so I guess it's okay. Sorta.

Ford is betting that retro-styled Mustang will age well on the road. But the strategy could be risky considering most automakers tweak their car designs every year or so to keep them fresh.
Not too sure what they are talking about, most cars don't have any major styling changes before 4 years or so.

If I didn't like it, I don't think I'd be buying it, or on these forums at all...

They must be referring to the minor changes some companies do to their cars every year or two. Remember the '96 'stang had updated tail lights over the '94-'95 horizontal ones. To do anything that would alter the entire state of the vehicle is extremely costly. They've already invested so much into this design, I would expect it to be around for 8-10 years. That is, of course, with some form of body change similar to the '99 revamping of the SN95's.

yup, i was thinking the same thing.
maybe we'll see some hips on the car for 2010
before that though, we might see a hood scoop, or something else like alont those lines that wont completely change the cars looks

I don't know about you, but I still gawk like a kid looking at a cheerleader when I see a really nice Mustang - of virtually any model. 66, 68, new Cobra, doesn't matter. They still get my heart beating a bit faster.

So, yes, I like the new style, and no I don't think I'll tire of it just because they sell 150,000 per year for the next decade.

:drive:

I agree. I still get excited when I see even a '96 Cobra that looks nice driving down the road.

And seeing as how this is the best looking Mustang to come along in decades, I'm sure that in 2015 I'll look at a 2005 GT and go, "man, that's a pretty car."
