First let me say, My car has the active anti-theft system..I go out to my car this morning to go to work..Push the unlock button, Both windows go down..I say Hmmmm. I think to myself maybe the unlock button on the fob got stuck down and the global window feature kicked in..I get in start the car, roll the windows back up and drive off to work..All is good..I park the car at work, get out set the alarm, take two steps away from the car...The doors unlock and the windows go back down .. Then I put the key in the door lock.. lock the doors hold the key to the right till the windows go up..Now I go into work thinking dam now I have to go see the dealer after I get off!!! Ten Min's later a girl I work with comes in and asks me if I meant to leave the windows down in my car...I go back out to the car to find the doors unlocked and the windows down...Now I'm like I put the key back in the lock and try and roll the windows up that way again..Doors lock but the windows wont go up..so I get inside the car put the key in like i'm going to start the car..turn it so I can roll the windows up..They go up..I take the key out, open the door and both windows go back down..Now the windows wont stay up at all...
Well it's at the dealership right now getting looked at..Should be interesting to see what they find..But I can tell you I will be really P.O'd if they tell me they have to turn off my global window feature on a car that came with it.. Ford will have a fight on there hands

Wow! I was worried that would happen, which is why i never re-programmed my alarm. Good luck! Hopefully they can just reprogram the unit or something.

You have great timing!
I just had my 05 into the dealership today for the exact same issue! It was explained to me on a different forum that we have one of the first few cars to come off the line and this problem was found early on and the factory disabled it half way thru the build year and that the feature is not even available on the 06's.
I was told the fix was to take it back and have the dealership disable the feature.
I had to argue with them a little bit as the warranty person said they cant just do that and they will have to diagnose the problem, knowing that this would result in a lot of hassle and time I convinced the service manager to just turn it off which is what they did.
I never used the feature anyway and I feel alot more secure about the car knowing the windows arent going to roll down all by themselves.

I have heard that before. That would suck if it was raining, or someone messed with your ride.

That is correct, they turned the feature off, and I think they acutally started to use equipment that can in no way be programmed to turn this feature back on. When they 1st started shipping 05s with global open/close turned off, some dealerships would turn it back on, others would not, as I think Ford told them NOT to do it.

My guess is that both of you will have to live w/out the feature. I was really pissed when I got mine cause that was the reason I ordered the upgraded alarm, for the open/close. I fought my dealer, and Ford and never got anywhere.

Good luck, you may have a dealer/service dept. that will fix and/or turn it back on.

Wow, hope this doesn't happen to me. I have the window down feature in my car, and quite honestly it's not very useful. But it is kinda neat. But they do have the interrior motion sensors that will still cause the alarm to go off if someone reaches in. I've tested it myself and it works.

I wonder if they'd disable the feature even if you haven't had any problems with it?

1NewStang,

My dealer did not find a problem either and the feature still worked when I had them turn it off.
If they did not find or fix anything can you feel comfortable it wont happen again?
I didnt - better safe than sorry!
