Help with 2005 mustang gt humming/whirling noise
Recently bought a 2005 gt with about 170k miles on it. Previous owner swapped in a new crate engine and claimed to change almost all bearings and bushings on it. Coming from the front right wheel there’s a humming noise at about exactly 45 mph. If you go to 44-43 mph it goes away. But when you go over 45 mph it stays about the same pitch. It doesn’t fade in and out when turrning the wheel or braking unless you go under that 45 mph mark. I changed out the wheel bearing and the one that was on the car looked new. Still put a new one on anyways and the problem still exists. Any help?

Welcome to the forums!
Right front tire has a blemish/is wore out. That could cause the noise easily.
Fender splash shield is not secured, and is rubbing somewhere? I had that happen... Other culprits are the brakes, and maybe particular the brake dust shield. That happened on my Mark VIII back when. Somehow got bent and sorta kinda sounds like that. And/or if the wheel and brake calipers aren't exactly clearanced right either... but you'd probably notice rubbing on all these things...
Perhaps it's a 'whistling' due to a body panel or something like that. Been known to happen. Any non-standard body panels/add ons involved?
What you could do is get the car in the air on jack stands where the suspension is loaded and see if the car will do it 'standing still but running' at the speeds indicated on the speedometer. Carefully, of course, but you're trying to eliminate a drivetrain issue with this one. Although it doesn't make sense, the problem *could* be somewhere in the engine bay, and its fooling you on the 'where' because audio can do that in the cabin.
And then past that... you might need expert advice/diagnosis. But from afar, in this teensy brain, those seem the likeliest culprits.
I hope that helps somehow! Good luck!

it might be the tire it self. I had tires on my 08 that drove me crazy until I figured out that it was them. I had the same humming noise changed both wheel bearings twice after returning the new ones cause I thought they were bad, and then it came for inspection and getting talking with my mechanic buddy and he suggested the tires. Like that it was gone. So yeah long story but short answer I would bet on tires or maybe some components of the suspension.
