Saw my first GT and V-6 yesterday. Unbelieveable!!! I could not believe how much better they look in person. I couldn't stop smiling. Ford definatly has a winner here.

To my question though.

The windows going down a little when you open the doors.. good or bad? I can make a case for each. Going down the highway, you would have a terrificly sealed cabin and road noise is no factor at ALL. But my concern is say your working on your car and you have the batt. disconnected. The windows would prevent you from opening the door wouldnt they? Do you have to drop them a bit before you disconnect the batt? Or what if the batt is dead. Then what? You try and open the doors to get in your car and your S.O.L. What do you think?

I got to test drive the V-6 and was throughly impressed. The cars handling is remarkable. On 2 seperate 0-60 runs, I timed 7.3.and 7.2 secs respectivily. Outstanding for the base model automatic!!! The GT was off limts to test drive   I thought hey were trying to sell cars.. how do you not let someone testdrive it. It wasnt spoken for by anyone else either.

Another thing is that here in Charleston, SC. 5 outta 5 Mustangs (GT's included) None of them had the IUP. They had the Shaker 500 and one GT had the Dark gray leather but that was as close as it got.

Don't forget to let me know what you think about the windows. I'm highly curious.

I believe the reason the windows roll down slightly when you open the door is to allow pressure to escape the interior of the vehicle when you close the door, allowing better sealing and less effort to close the door. I am sure that they do not roll up any higher than a conventional window. So, if there was no battery power the door would open and close as any regular car.

I am sure that the fine Ford engineers would not build a feature that would completely prevent the doors from opening. I am sure that there must have been at least one car with a dead battery during the developement of this car, they surely would have noticed such a flaw.

Luxury cars such as BMW and Lexus have had this feature for a long time, with no ill effect.

The window went up into a hard plastic slot in the roof line. I would be highly inclined to agree with you on this, just something doesnt add up still.

Don't worry about the window's your over reacting. You can still open the doors if the window does not go down because the battery is dead. All that feature does is allows you to close the door better because it allows air pressure to escape. Once the door is close, the window rolls up and gets a better seal as well. Go to a use lot and check out new t-birds,they have the exact same feature.

I have noticed a slight rattle from the drivers side window while driving with the window about 1" down or so. You need to obviously not have the radio on to hear it.

Anyone else notice this?

There is no "slot". Think about it, when you open the door and pull it back, the window doesn't roll down that 1/4 inch until you have the door open a bit. Just as a previous poster said, this is just to help with the pressure when closing the door.

I tested this. I disconnected the battery, opened and closed the door...the door remains ajar if you don't slam it really hard because of the pressure.

Cheers,

Justin

Maybe I misunderstand what you mean, but it would have to respond pretty darn quickly. I haven't looked closely at a car with this feature for a while, but I think it is simultaneous with opening the door. Then, when you close the door it waits a second to roll up the window the last quarter inch.

doesn't the unlocking work electrically instead of mechanically? I've heard that the window is dropped, and after that, the door gets unlocked. It just happens so quickly that you don't even notice it.

No...as soon as you open the door, the window drops simultaneously. It doesn't drop when you unlock it or anything else. Trust me...I have one!

The window rolls back up after you shut the door. At first, I too thought it went up into a "slot", but further observation showed me otherwise.

One wierd thing though...sometimes when I close my door, the window doesn't roll up..it rolls 3/4th the way down!! So buggy...
