So Cal Dealer report: South Bay Ford
So im down here by south bay ford and notice this huge sign saying the 05 stang was there. Didint even think twice about it so i went down there to see which ones they have. Sure enough they had two v6 stangs parked out front and another inside the showroom floor. There were alot of people interested in the car but the one thing that drove them away including me was the price.
Can you believe they want $3000 dollars over MSRP!. :nono: Bringing a V6 stang to $23,000 dollars. Thats absurd. Just letting you guys know that South Bay Ford off of the 405 is marking up thier cars so stay away.

Thanks for the report, but the fact is most of the dealers here in so cal are marking up the prices for the cars that they have coming in, in oct and nov.
The dealer that I have ordered through, got a GT which was sold the same day for 32 K, its almost a 3 grand mark up.
So people who are looking to buy the first few ones from the dealer lots will have to pay the price (which doesn't make any sense to me)

Back in 1987 the dealers in NorCal were marking the '87 GT upwards of $3000, and that's on a $12-15K car!
It makes total sense to mark them up, if people will pay it. This doesn't prevent you from calling around, negotiating with their Internet/Fleet sales managers.
The $3000 is a "no wait, drive it today" fee... ;-)

Definetly not an uncommon practice for new model vehicles.
Remember the Miata, VW Bug, PT Cruiser, etc. etc....?

I stay away from South Bay Ford. I leased a 99 GT from them, before they had their new location, and they tried to change the terms of my lease after we had already agreed on a figure.
I ordered my '05 from Santa Monica Ford, where I'm paying $500 over invoice. I also qualify for two Ford rebates totaling $900 dollar. I just wish my car would get here. They are telling me it is scheduled to arrive on 10/26.

CA Stang, Could you please tell what two Ford reabates are you talking about?
I have a students discount and a AQHA membership discount (totalling to 900$). But thanks to the good dealer members on this site, I found out that I will be able to use only one.
Is it the same case with you?

Red/Black GT. My first rebate is for $400, and is a recent grad discount good for 18 months (I finished grad school last May). My second rebate is for $500, and is a return customer rebate. I'm coming off a lease on my '02. The individual that I'm dealing with stated that I can use both. I specifically asked, because I had heard similar information from members of this board in regards to only being able to use one of the rebates.
What dealers in SoCal, L.A., did you guys get good deals from? Most places I've been to have been nothing but dirtbags. If you have a dealer and contact person the better. Thanks.
Also how does the AQHA discount work? Can anyone join the AQHA?

I haven't seen a dealership in So Cal that hasn't marked up the price yet.

She's been rightous with me.
Just gotta wait on Ford to get them in.....
while cruising to midway ford on vermont/beverly I saw two silvery wide-set beams in my rearview mirror and just as i wondered what the heck it was i saw the mustang icon floating dead center. it was my first production 05 V-6 sighting. i got out of it's way to get a better look...mineral grey with glendale ford dealer plates. awesome and that was saturday evening. when i got to midway i saw a silver one on the lot and parked my car. salesman gave me a brochure and told me orders take up to 3 months. i want mine mid-january 05. i thanked him and asked to see the silver one out front and in that short time the owner had taken delivery and was gone! paid 4k over msrp! been to southbay, sunrise fontana, and midway...all accept x-plan and seem decent! Southbay will sell at markup, but just order one for a better price.

It was only like an $1200 gross deal for me, nothing spectacular.
