Glass roof on '09 Mustangs

I was poking around here yesterday and saw photos of a blue GT coupe with what looked like the panoramic glass roof - I thought this wasn't available until '09?? I've tried to find those pictures again, but no luck. Is there an aftermarket glass roof for Mustangs?

There are 2 actually. Saleen offers a glass roof, and CDC offers their own version. I think CDC was first, actually, and I could be wrong, but I think Ford might be using the CDC roof for their '09 option.

I think the '09 Glass Roof is a Saleen one and the reason being, Saleen is in Troy, and I wouldn't be suprised if they are doing the install.

Now that I think about it, that makes more sense, Saleen already has a manufacturing relationship with Ford, they built the GT for them.

and if you look at the two roofs, the cdc looks really terrible because it places a piece of glass on top of the roof and fills in with rubber stripping. look at the glass roof ford is using, it replaces the roof panel. if i had a choice, my car goes under saleens knife

I would have to say that the CDC Glassback roof is not "terrible" by any means. It is still very open. therre is about 3/4 inch of stripping on the front and back of the glass panel which in my opinion is very insignificant. I can take more pictures to justify this.

oh no i have seen them in person, and just feel it kind of a hack job compared to the saleen and ford roof.

Here's a few pics from a previous thread. This hunk of trim that isn't even curved to match isn't something I consider insignificant.

agreed, but i would like to find out if there is an ability to have the factory ford parts or a saleen scenic roof installed on my car. maybe i should do that and also go over and see what kind of coin it would cost me to trade to an 09 with HID's and a glass roof.

That gap is enough to make me glad I don't have one of these on my car.

The glass roof is DEFINITELY NOT of CDC or Saleen origin and is a unique piece.

HAHAHA I agree. If it is CDC whoever installed it did a HORRIBLE job. I'll take some pictures and show you how flush and discrete it looks.

Rear section:

Another rear section from the other side:

Passanger side front:

Here is my CDC Glassback roof. Now that I went to snap some pictures, I realized whatever pictures you put up were definitely NOT CDC. The trim has a clearcoat on it to match the amount of glaze that the glass gives off. Furthermore, the trim sits flush with the rear and front windshields and the actual glass roof.

And I will finish off by saying that what I have, the CDC piece, makes the "hunk of trim" you refer to insigifnicant.

That was most definitely a CDC Glassback. Came from this thread: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...assback&page=4

In your own pics, I can see that gap between the roof and trim is not even. Yours isn't pulling away badly like those pics, but there are still two shapes laid against each other that don't match.

The trim has a clearcoat on it to match the amount of glaze that the glass gives off.
Yours does. But there are many pics of glassbacks right here on these forums and in CDC's own advertisements where the trim isn't that glassy. Here's one.

CDC revised their trim pieces a while back. Of the two the Saleen is the better looking one IMO but the revised CDC doesn't look that bad. It would basically come down to cost for me. I don't know how much the Saleen version is but if there was a considerable cost difference I would probably go with the cheaper one.

i would go with the better version. i dont mind the money purely because i want the job done more corectly. and have it not look terrible. so anyone know if saleen will take in a standard gt to apply a scenic roof to?

Where is it not even. Yes, there is a small gap, but it doesn't "pull" away anywhere. In high light I will take more pictures to show it is even through out. I have to have the revised version, because it looks like the older CDC Glassback had plastic trim everywhere (which really looks tacky). I do not have plastic trim.
