So I think I found someone who can hook me up with an XPlan pin and now I have to find a dealer who will actually accept it. I took a test drive in a GT today ( :worship: by the way) and the sales dude said XPlan shouldn't be a problem, but when we got back to the dealership he "talked to his manager" and said he couldn't do it. They offered a couple hundred off MSRP or to order one at XPlan, but wouldn't sell me one off the lot. So are there any tricks to getting XPlan accepted? Think I would have better luck with an internet or fleet manager?

I'm sure they would take XPlan in a month or two once there are more stangs floating around, but the wait is gonna be painful. Particularly now that I have driven one

Every dealer is different right now alot of them are just being greedy until the rush dies off. My local dealer would not accept xplan now either but someone will if you keep looking.

Not much you can do. Either they take it or they won't. They have the legal right to refuse to sell at a reduced price.

The only ammo you have is to take your business elsewhere or take their offer to let you order at X-plan price, but make them give you that in writing. I know of atleast once instance where a person was promised a X plan type price on a car at the time of order and when it came in the delaer told them to pay MSRP or they (dealer) would sell it to someone else.

You're in Cali. You may end up having to drive a bit but I bet you can find one - although you may end up having to order and wait a bit.

The good side of ordering is you get exactly what you want and you should get a car that hasn't been abused by test drives. The down side is the 6+ week wait.

I would rather order one for myself than buy one off the lot that has been sat in by god-knows who.

By ordering you get EXACTLY what you want, unless the $1000 or so that you would save by waiting means nothing to you.

The money I'd save definitely means something. I will order on XPlan before I buy off the lot at MSRP. I'm not so worried about who sat in or even test drove the car though. They aren't staying on lots around here long enough to get abused. The car I test drove today hard 30 something miles on it and as soon as I finished and got out of it some lady was in the drivers seat getting comfy. I'd be surprised if it is still on the lot tomorrow.

I found this amusing. I was at my local dealer the other night and checked out the car. I asked the salesman about X plan and he tells me right away that they can't do that because they will lose $$. So I briefly mention that the dealer 10 min away already told me he would. Right away the sales guy told me i'm sure we could work it out so they could take my plan. I loved how the policy changed over the course of a minute.

The original dealer I was working with in Sterling, VA would not deal with the X-Plan; I called from the showroom to another dealer in Leesburg, VA and got what I wanted. Just find one that will accept YOUR terms.

My dealer did the same thing. Said "nope cant do XPlan", UNTIL I told him another dealer said they would. Then he changed his tune and gave me XPlan. So try that.

I am still worried though... when the car comes in, will they screw me? Everytime I call to ask about the status of my car, he says, "This is the XPlan one?"... why does he say it like that? I have my order confirmation, and a quote to trade in my 02 for $9000. I think that is where they will get me, they wont give me 9K for my car. I dont know, just worried...

I told my previous dealer's GM I would go out of state if necessary to get the X-plan price, but he didn't care if he lost my current and future business. He doesn't believe anybody will sell one for less than retail, and says you can't believe the internet. He changed his mind about accepting X-plan, even for an order, when he realized he could sell them for sticker. He says only 1 out of 4 he can get are GTs. The problem is that this initial rush of orders will die down, and he'll be able to get more, but he only thinks of today. Suprisongly, people aren't ordering a lot of Mustangs in my area. They want what is on the lot according to 3 dealers I've spoke with.

Dealer I spoke to told me they(Ford) aren't allowing them to sell the Mustang at X-plan. I let him by with the first lie but when he told me they weren't allowing them to order them at X-plan either. I had to bust him on that lie and inform him of all the people on here who have gotten X-plan. After this he tells me that ordering one at X-plan wouldn't be a problem but even then we would probably be looking at '06 before we could. What a crock, and this guy owns the lot.
