Are you suing?
I'm not one of those people who are for suing for any old thing....

But...

That truck is so high.... I bet it's not legal.

i don't think it is legal. Idaho state law states bumper height on 4wd vehicles must be like 54" or lower from the bottom of the bumper
By looking at that picture, it looks like the ride height is legal, it doesn't look like the bottom of the bumper is more than 4 and half feet off the ground, thats pretty high.

Edit: Actually, I know its legal, the height of the Mustang is 54", and its well below the roofline.

Idaho State Statute states 30 inches front on 4X4 under 10k lbs

Always been scared of insurance companies without offices.
No offices = less overhead = lower rates. I'm not sayint that Geico is the best insureance company, but I've had no problems with them.

awesome. I had pulled that up at one point, but i dunno why i was thinking 54. It could definitley be over 30" i think....

We are going to try to find the truck this weekend to measure it.

The picture of the truck on the rear of the yellow Mustang was photo shopped. That is not an actual shot of the truck that hit the car, if I recall correctly.
Montrose.....were you there to see the accident? If not, don't pass judgement on the photo.
[/b][/quote]

Dear Carol. No, I was not there, but I do remember someone on the original post of this accident, talking about a photo chopped/shopped print. However, as you and others have so eloquently stated, that is an original picture.

I was not implying that this accident did not occur, nor was I attempting to trivialize the seriousness of this, if that is how my comment was interpreted. I thought someone at the time had created and posted a photograph to illustrate how high the truck was, and to show how serious the accident was.

I'm glad you were there to verify this, and to pass judgement on my comment.

Have a nice day.

Update:

Ok, estimator guy is now claiming that he sent those pictures to illustrate his opinion that "you should not buy another mustang because they ALL look like that when they crash, they are extremley unsafe cars"

i explained to him that i was hit by a lifted truck going 50 mph and it is my opinion that anything i was driving would have looked similar.

Really none of his darn business dontcha think??

I could have a light on the horizon here, some good news, but i'm keeping it on the DL till i know for sure.

Not fair. Don't tease us. :nono: And yes, I agree that it's none of his business what car you drive as long as you're paying them the insurance premium.

Sounds like they made a mistake and are using the "preaching pics" to justify it.

I work for an insurance company, and never has my agent suggested what a policy holder should or shouldn't be driving. Thats just plain ridiculous!

I'm sure the people at Ford would be very happy to hear that an insurance company representative is claiming one of Ford's vehicles is unsafe using 2 cars as an example.

considering the fact that the rear crumple zone absorbed the entire impact and kept that bumper from reaching the back seat, I would say that it is a VERY safe car. Obviously they made a mistake and are trying to cover it. If you are saying all mustangs are junk and sending pics of another, why wouldn't you also send the pics of the one that you owned? I agree you should go after them. This is a VERY stupid mistake and should not have been made. Guess they don't believe in checking the VINs.

You can easily turn that around on the estimator. The car crumples easily, therefore dissipating energy from the crash into deformed sheet metal so the driver does not absorb the impact, the auto does. This is SAFER for the driver, and also makes the crash cheaper. A 25K car totalled, is alot cheaper than 100K+ worth of medical bills.

For those thinking about their state laws, alot of them have modified heights from the factory. So if you lower your car, you might not be legal as well. But most states have "recommended" heights, and are not really enforcable b/c the state has to prove your height is not "recommended."

The photo that was P-Shopped was the camera phone, but it had an angel above the Stang in the shopped version. I would look for it, but, really dont have time.

The picture of the truck on the car is REAL, as Emilee confirmed.

As for the insurance company.. its unbelievable what they will try to get away with! The best to you Emilee.

Montrose....I never stated that was an original picture...but I'm not saying it isn't, nor do I believe anyone should pass judgement on the photos. :nono:
So what if it was photoshopped? The driver of the Mustang made it out alive...that's what's important. It was a very serious accident.
No, I was not there either....I just believe what I see.
