I'm scheduled to have my gas tank replaced next Friday on my 2005 Mustang GT Convt. Has the replacement cured the filling up problem for folks as in cut-offs for the pump handle? Any problems from the tank replacement?

I JUST NOW had my wife take my stang in for an oil change. I told her to mention the filling problem to the service tech. He had to call me to tell me there was no such problem with the 05 Mustang.

I suggested there might be a bulliten on it because I had read on some forums there was an issue with it. His reply was "you can't trust internet forums".

I liked these guys because they did my sports package upgrade for me but it looks like I'm gonna have to start going somewhere else.

EDIT: Is there a number I can give him for the TS? Like the number in front of the listing on the sticky? The pdfs are 404 now.

I will have to find the number when I get home, but there is a recal to replace the tank. the problem is, sometimes it has just the opposite effect. My gas tank now will not stop when it should. everytime I fill up, it overflows. i took it to a dealer and they called ford, supposedly ford knows about the issue, but to not have a fix for it. not happy with that, but I just love the car too much to let it get to me.

I had my tank replaced about February of '05, I have only had the fill problem about three or four times since then, not nearly as frequently as before (I had them replace the tank).

They had me a new gas tank on order when they called to tell me my car had come in! So I went a couple of weeks only being able to add gas a teaspoon at a time, then they replaced the tank. I still have the problem occasionally, but Ford blames it on the pump. They say use another pump. We can't do anything more about the tank! It's a gas tank, how hard can this be? It does seem like the problem is slowly getting better, though. It doesn't happen very often any more, but I still get the shut-off problems sometimes, and sometimes it still overflows. Since I heard it didn't always correct the problem, I just turn the pump upside down. Seems to work.
