Hey all!
Got my 06 GT a few weeks back. Works great, but I can sometimes hear (for example when driving with the window down, next to a wall/bushes etc) a very short, air-venting sound....like: "pfsst!" (hehehe). Intervals of maybe 20s between.

Stopped the car, and open the door, and it was still there at idle. Its coming somewhere from the engine compartment. I was down by the front left wheel, and could hear it clearly.

- anyone know what this might be?

Thanks!

Make sure your A/C and defroster are off, then listen for it. I heard the same thing from the exact same area and that's what it turned out to be. The A/C compressor runs part time when you have the defroster on. You can hear/feel it about every 20 seconds or so (on my car anyway). This is my first car with working A/C so I was surprised by it too.

ok, thanks guys! I will listen for it again.
Do I consider this to be a fault...or is it just the way it is?

There have been a lot of posts on this issue, and it appears that the Ford AC compressor is louder than many others.
