This is an interesting idea for Ford. There may be a market for the ever increasing popularity of a retractible hardtop. If it folds down flat, it could be lower than the current convertible when folded down and offer better rear views.

I don't remember if it was in a survey or news article, but I had read about this before. There might be an option for the top to fold down into the trunk, or over the rear seats, depending on your needs. If into the trunk, then you can carry back-seat passengers, if over the seats, you'll have more room in the trunk for bags. Could be a neat idea if done right, but I would have to see it.

I think it looks pretty good, but those pics kind of suck. I wonder how bad it leaks?

At last year's All Ford Carlisle the CDC reps told me, (eluded to be more exact) that they were in development of this. And that it may even work with their glassback.

In 5 to 10 years almost every drop top will be a retractable hardtop! Right now Mazda has the best one on the MX5, it only adds 75 pounds and takes up NO truck space. I predict that most manufacturers will copy it.

I like it. I wanted to a convertible, but not at the expense of losing the coup look. Best of both worlds here.

Welp, I drive a Coupe. Others like Verts.

I admit I think the glasstops are cool but would not want one myself.

As to this ADD ON...

It was in the survey. I like the idea myself. I would like a removeable hardtop better. You could take it off when you wanted the top down then have a ragtop to put up if the weather changes.

id prefer a removable hardtop myself. i think the only way they would be able to get a retractable hartop is to eliminate the backseat all together. yes its almost non-exsistant already but its a good place to throw my backback and hat and such.
