Quick Gas Cap Question

Just wondering but why do some GT's have the "GT" written on the gas cap and some just have the Mustang logo? Was it an option on them?

Factory stock V6 Mustang has Mustang logo.
Factory stock V8 Mustang is a GT model and has GT.
It can be changed rather easily.

Some like the look of the "pony" tri bar cap better and swap them out -- and it is also possible that you may be looking at a rebadged V6 rather than a GT.

I lean toward the swap out of medallion. I considered a tribar over the GT but am leaning more toward the Siverhorse medallion.

It appers to be a GT to me with side logo, driving lights, and dual exhaust.

Perhaps a Ford Factory "oops"??

Nice looking ride though...

I swapped out my GT faux cap for the Tri-Bar ages ago. I never did like the look of the GT cap. Besides, there was absolutely nothing on the GT identifying it as a Mustang (besides the big pony in the grill).

Looks like a GT Justin so either the previous owner liked the tri bar pony cap better, or someone on the line while it was being built was delivered the wrong cap as it came down the line.

I did the same thing and I replaced the fender badges with the V6 running ponies as well.

I've seen factory oops where there was a GT emblem on one fender and a plain V6 fender on the other with no emblem. It was deliverd to the dealership that way. But, this one just looks like the previous owner swapped out the rear badges.
