Those of you who have done the G2 caliper paint. My can of paint is only about 1/3 full. Is this right? Tire Rack says yes.

I think mine was only 1/3rd full. I remember having plenty left over.

I bought two kits. I was not comfortable putting my SUV or any vehicle for that matter up off of all four wheels. For safety reasons, I'd rather that no more than two be off the ground at any given time. If you elect to use one kit, I'd suggest purchasing an additional can of brake cleaner and several additional small brushes to do the job.

Being very detail orientated, I decided to do two calipers one day, and two the next. It took me several hours to thoroughly clean and meticulously paint the calipers. Two calipers was enough work for one day. Since the paint must be used within 4-6 hours of mixing, I was glad that I bought another kit for the next day. Like any new job, you'll get better at applying the paint as time goes on, I found different brushes to work better depending on what I needed to do. I applied two coats to all areas. I found that after doing two calipers that I was getting tired and that I was beginning to lose patience and soon would be getting careless.

The only way that I would suggest one kit is if you decided to remove the caliper from the vehicle prior to painting. So far everything has held up fine. Good luck.

approx 1/3rd is correct. You have to Mix it, and it is more than enough. BUT, you do have to use it quickly. (Well the shelf life is NIL, once opened) Therefore it would not be practical for more in the container. I think the reasoning of the container size is more for packaging.

You bought the RIGHT stuff. The generic out there looks okay at first, but does not last nor stand up. I agree with the post above. Get more cleaner and do it right. The Prep work is the most important part of any job.

Its that bad cleaning the calipers huh. What sort of brushes you recommend? stiffer? softer? Just something I can pick up in the school supply aisle at the store?

The calipers that I painted had about 3 months of use, After I liberally sprayed brake cleaner all over them, I found it (or thought it) necessary to use a rag soaked with brake cleaner to get the stubborn stuff off. Not every discoloration I saw came off. Afterwards, once again I liberally sprayed brake cleaner and let them air dry.

As for brushes, I bought 10 for $2.00 at home depot similar to the one supplied with the kit. Depending on how LITTLE paint I put on the bristles, allowed me greater control in applying the paint. I would switch back and forth between brushes as needed. I'd find a "favorite" brush for awhile, but eventually would need a new one to gain greater control over where I wanted the paint to go and what was happening. Having a tweezer handy helped pick off any loose bristles. I ended up using all 10 brushes.

Thats good to know. I think Im going with black, so getting them real clean is not all that important.
