Functional Factory Hood Scoop

Does anyone know of anybody who has made the factory hood scoop functional? I have the factory scoop and would love to make it functional. Any ideas? Thanks!

Cut a hole in your hood. and remove the honeycomb from the front of the scoop.

The closest to functional I've seen would be a Cervini kit. Maybe you could adapt it?

I've got to give it to you, I didn't think it would work out well, but it did! Nice job.

That's great! Any ideas on where/how to start? What do you think about it now that you've done it (looks, issues, vibrations)? I'm pretty decent at mechanical stuff but I've never done any bodywork...

Also, I love the sleeper look for your car. (And you've got great taste in color).

Cool, but where does the intake happen? What feeds the filter? It's a great scoop, but it's just blowing air on the motor...

looks like it will grab some air- but aside from cooling the intake a bit (a good thing though) and letting rain in, wouldnt seem to do much? Fangs hood has a duct in between the hood panels that sends air over to the airbox- are you planning to do something similar? the ducting also has seals/drain hose to keep water away from everything if its raining out...heres a pic of the blockoff plate/drain, you can see the duct opening over the airbox- in thier pic, they havent added the airbox duct yet- its a gasketed duct that mounts over the box lid, diverts air around back of box to the box bottom. Ive got mine (also still uninstalled) out in the garage if youd like to see a picture

edit- found a pic of fang's airbox duct- the one I got has a better looking one piece gasket

Thanks, and it helps keep underhood temps down.

Thanks! Remove the hood scoop. Use a dremel or jigsaw to cut out whatever shape of hole you deem correct. Remove the black faux grill from the from of the hood scoop and make whatever kind of grill you want for it (I used aluminized weather-proof rain gutter screen material from a hardware store). No problems or issues. Everyone that's seen it in person thinks it looks factory.

I have a supercharger that forces plenty of air into the intake, so who needs the hood scoop to ram air anyway? And, yes, it's blowing hot air out of the engine bay - that's a good thing.
