Ford Recalling 470,000 05+ Mustangs

I don't see what the big deal is. This only affects petite unrestrained passengers. If you have petite passengers like children or small women, WHY ARE THEY UNRESTRAINED???
I had a State Trooper tell me one time that in over 50+ fatal accidents he has worked, he has only had to unbuckle 1 corpse. The rest were unrestrained. Not saying you can't die with your seat belt on....just that it greatly improves your chances.

I have an 06 that I took delivery on in Feb 06 and when I searched my VIN on the Ford site it listed this issue as an opne recall.
I just had a supercharger installed and feel really uneasy about having a software update done. My dealer knows about my mods so I don't car about any warrenty issues. I aggree that this seems like a minor issue and unlikely to occur. If a passenger does not buckle up I do not move the car or they get out and walk

I would definitely flash back to stock tune prior to getting this resolved. It should normally not affect your performance tune, but to be on the safe side!

Yep, this problem applies to a small person such as a child or small female, not wearing a seat belt, and sitting close to the dash.
Basically a non issue for 99.9% of the population. The other .1% can be sacrificed for Darwin's sake.

Since this is a safety recall, can you opt out of it? Obviously, they can't do the work if you don't go into a dealership, but let's say you drop the car off for an oil change... is Ford legally required to do the work if they have access to the car?

I'm not going out of my way to have it done, but why would you not want Ford to do it? It does not mess with any aftermarket tunes, or anything else. If you are worried about having your dealer find out about aftermarket stuff that you don't want them to know about, take it to a different dealer. It's not like they enter your mods in a centralized computer system for all dealers to know about.
