Why would they not take the capital one check? I plan on doing this myself.

Because they got shafted by one or two I guess.

When I bought my Stang, the finance lady was all hacked off because they take almost 10 days to send the title after paying off my trade in. Can anyone guess what my response was? It was something like "Shall I take my business somewhere that they don't try to make me use financing programs that I'm not interested in?"
I know it's easy for me to say because I already have my car, but I was more than willing to walk away from the car that I ordered and waited for in order to keep from getting worked over. If you wouldn't just hand over $1k to some stranger on the street, then don't let the dealership steal it from you.
Good luck!

Azoufan, I agree with you 100%.
Now that I think about it, the Acura dealer I bought my car from over 4 years ago tried to pull this crap on me. I had a check from Synergy FSB for the exact amount that time and they gave me the biggest crap about it. Finally when I was about to walk they caved. Some dealers really are the scum of the earth.
