The dealer either screwed up your order or didn't order it at all. They just grabbed the closest match. When ordering a car, make sure you get the VOC sheet after they send the order into the Ford system. It will have an actual order # (not 9999 or 0000). That is what you use to phone in with the Evil Robot Lady to check your order. Whatever you see on that VOC is what you SHOULD get when the vehicle arrives.

We've ordered new Ford vehicles about 4 times in the past with 100% accuracy (not one of the orders was screwed up like the way you described).

You should ask the dealership to place a NEW order and use your deposit towards the new order (you should NOT have to pay extra fees). I wouldn't push for compensation too hard though.

I would definitely reorder what you want. It'll bother you for a long time if you settle for anything less. I agree with others who have said they should (and most likely will) give you a higher priority. Couldn't hurt to ask them to throw in some free oil changes too. I know it's a killer to have to wait, but you're talking to someone who waited over 5 months. Better yet, talk to Davids2toys....he's the member who's car came in the wrong color. Good luck!

As soon as they input the order into the Ford system, the Evil Robot Lady will report that it has been entered. Get your documentation and check it out asap. If after 1 week the ERL has no record of your order, go to the dealership and check it out. They most likely did not enter the order!

On the other hand, the dark IUP isn't all that. The vents and interior door handles don't go too well with it. Then again, that brushed silver IUP looks like it was inspired by the inside of a beer can.

I'd rather not have the spoiler on my convertible. Then again, I like the spoiler on my convertible. No I don't. Yes I do. Anyway, It's like that. Some days it's awesome, others it's an obstruction in the rearview. But hey, it blocks SUV headlights. Then again, I can't see to parallel park.

To summarize, I think you should cheat on your wife with her best friend. Glad I could help.
i think the dark IUP looks great with everything. and i am very happy with mine.

you should def. re-order, or see if they can locate your exact car and do a dealer trade. you should have what you ordered, no more no less.

see if they will give you 500 over invoice for the deal since they screwed up. or see if you can get x plan by the time the car comes in. blueovalnews.com has a forum for it. the 11 weeks isnt that bad i had to wait 20

My advice, go to another dealership. If they are careless enough to mess up your order either they are idiots or they treat you like a second class citizen. In either case i wouldnt want to do business with them.

And don't sweat the wait. Good things come for those who wait. And it also allows you to save more money.

Wow! Kind of the same thing happened to me, however, I changed my order a week after the order. The change never went through, and a separate build order went in... I knew about four weeks before delivery that the wrong car was being built. I was very upset to say the least as I didn't know that another build order was sent. Several weeks later I descovered that the car I wanted was being built and was about four week behind the first order. For my inconvenience...waiting an additional 2-3 weeks, and the dealership's negligence for not following-up on my order, they knocked another $1,000 off the previously negotiated price . We both were happy as a got the car that I wanted for a great price, and they got another 5-speed 07 GT that, at the time, was hard to get

Uhh yeah a classic 1967 beer can

Back on topic,
When I ordered mine, I waited 5 months. The car came in just like I wanted except for the spoiler delete. I figured, a free spoiler is something I could live with, considering how difficult it was to find 5 speed manual GT in the color/interior combination I wanted.

I deleted the spoiler myself, but now I'm seriously considering painting it flat black and putting it back on.

Waiting for exactly what you want and not making any settlements will mean you will be 100% happy with what you may end up driving and living with for years afterward.

If it is not as important to you on the build reflecting exactly the window sticker, then as mentioned by SteelTownStang, you could stand to get some monetary benefits from it.

IMO, wait to get the exact Order and have more time to prepare. When Once receives the car of their dreams having all the features desired, there is nothing better. Waiting for nearly two years and paying some extra, to me, it was purely worth it. No looking back and wondering, "should i have....."?

Thanks

Thanks for all the responses and your opinions. I really appreciate it.

I want to let you all know that 24 hours after my big disappointment I re-ordered my Mustang. This only after letting the dealer know that I'm really frustrated and disappointed about this human mistake.
I tried to get some kind of compensation for all of this...... extra option......additional discount........free oil changes. But they did not agree on anything. They promised me the price that we agreed on when I ordered the Mustang the first time (Dealer invoice price) (the prices already went up) with the cash rebate as of yesterday or more if that's available when my Mustang shows up.

Again, thanks for all your responses. I hope to join you all soon as a Mustang owner. For now I'm going to start again counting down the weeks/days.

Hopefully they'll get it in as a Priority 1 for you and you won't have to wait 3 more months.

Having gone through the same thing, I totally understand. I probably should have re-ordered, but ended up taking the car. It took them 4 months to do the trunk swap to get one without a spoiler, but the paint is a perfect match to my car. Of course, that won't always happen.

I was really tired of driving the crappy junker I had bought between my '05 being totaled and the '07 arriving, so I just took the car. I'm happy with it now, but I would probably not do this again. And I'm not going back to this dealer for any new car, ever again. They weren't happy with my survey either, since I didn't "stay to the left" when answering the questions.

Oh, well.

WOW...a second time! I can not believe that they were not willing to work with you as it was obviously their mistake . I would definitely contact Ford Co. and lodge a complaint. Dealerships have a great deal of latitude in negotiations. They can actually sell a car below invoice and still make money via Ford incentives. What happens if the screw it up again...? There should definitely be some restitution for your aggravation

man get exactly what you want! don't settle for less.
I would go and make a mess and get maybe an extra little thing, like sirius, or a shaker 1000 instead of the 500, I dont know. something for having to wait another 10 or 11 weeks.

good luck! I am happy for you man that you will get a brand new mustang, having a mustang is a whole experience.
the dealer has to compensate you for something for what I think.

Well they screwed up my first order and because of this they are going to put in my order in for the second time.

If you can give me an address and/or phone number I'm sure going to send in a complain.

Why not ask for ~$1,000 or more under invoice? I got mine under invoice.

That shouldn't be too hard as there are currently $1000 incentives on 2007 mustangs.

as others have said, I would NOT accept the car, you will always regret it....I once had a similar thing happen on a 1989 Mustang GT that I orderd (came in with the wrong color, blue instead of red). I took the blue one home because I really wanted to get a new car and soon regretted it.

If you already got the deal at invoice, plus the current incentive ($1k) that's probably all you can squeeze out of the dealer. However, the dealer could broker some additional restitution from Ford since this has created a huge customer satisfaction problem. I bought my new 2000 GT and drove it off the lot only to find out it had an oil leak from both cylinder heads. This care was 1 of 1 left in New England with the color combo and the "Feature Car Package (special mid-year offering), so getting another one wasn't in the cards. My choices were to take a different Stang or let them replace the head gaskets and fix the problem. After a lot of consideration, I decided to let them fix the leak IF they threw in the 7 year, 100k mile extended service plan ($1600 value). They agreed and I still have the car today without any follow on problems (although I just ordered my new 2007 yesterday). If I were you, I would try to work this angle since a)Ford would kick in the ESP and b)the ESP doesn't cost Ford much once you factor out the margin and c)it would make a customer sat issue go away for them - win/win. Good luck and my car better come in perfectly as ordered!
