I really like the 05' over the 04', but only because I owned (2) 66' coupes. The dash of the 05' really accents the overall "classic" mustang appeal.

I did test drive a few 04's a few months back and really wasn't impressed.

I always wanted the fastback though, and I think the 05' borrows from the fastback styling dramatically.

Em i missing something? This is no contest ,the 05 is head over heals the better car.The 05 just looks like american muscle car even standing still.I cant even remember a car giving me this good of a feeling since like the mid to late 60,s.The 05 is gonna be a classic, people will look back one day and say "man where you guys ever lucky you could buy a 2005 mustang when they where new"...

I too was considering a Mach, but once I saw the design concepts of the 05, I knew it'd pay off to wait. I love the 05 design. I've been driving trucks for the past 12 years, so that will be a change - but I can't wait!

What blows my mind is Ford has only a $2500.00 rebate on the 2004's right now. When I bought mine in March, there was a $3000.00 rebate and remaining 2003's had a $4000.00 rebate since early December or before.

I would think with 12,000 or 30,000 (have heard both) 2004's sitting on dealer lots right now there would be a lot higher rebate than $2500 !!

I think it's very interesting that Ford decided to go with a style that in it's time didn't sell all that well.

 Wha? The first gen's (64-65) sold well for that era car or are you talking about the fastback style?
Yes! I was speaking specifically about the Fastback's.

Yes the Mustang as a whole sold exceptionally well, but Fastback's were a small part of them.

that's funny cause now fastbacks sell for a lot more than coupes.(I think )

too bad cause i want a fastback.

I do think the 05 is overall a lot nicer than current stangs.

In a very recent article (Det News??) a Ford exec was quoted as saying there were 25,000, 2004 Mustangs still in dealer inventory. This was about 2 weeks ago.

Yes it blows my mind, that there is "only" a $2,500 rebate on '04s. I would have expected that we'd see $2,500 rebates and 0% APR for 36 months by now. Or $2,500 rebate and a couple thousand in dealer cash.

I can only assume that Ford doesn't want to sell the '04's off too quick because the '05's will not be on the dealer lots for several more weeks and Ford knows that the first '05s are already sold and as soon as the first '05s arrive they will be delivered to customers. So there may not be any significant #'s of '05s actually sitting on dealer lots waiting to be sold for several months!

..and that is one of the reasons why I am going to wait on a late '05 or preferably an '06
