When I had rocker panel stripes done on my Mustang it emphasized how poorly the front fenders and the leading edge of thedoors are lined up. When the striper brought it to my attention it confirmed what I had sort of turned a blind eye to.The edges of the hockey stick line up poorly on both sides . It is a concern I'm sure can be adjusted. Anyone else have similar concerns and were they successfully taken care of by your dealer ?

I haven't checked door and fender fit too closely. I eyeballed it before delivery and it looked good. I'm afraid to check it more closely. I don't need one more thing to be **** about.

I am already obsessing over the fact that my car was driven about 15 miles before I bought it and in that time someone saw the need to use the power outlet on the dash and scratch up the area around the power point and the faceplate of my Shaker in the process with their radar detector or cell charger or whatever.

The service dept. got one of its detail guys to try to remove the scratches with some sort of solvent. The scratches are gone now, but the solvent left a shiny black area where it should be flat black instead. The service guy implied that the Shaker face plate and the power point surround can't be replaced without ripping apart the dash and that the dash would never be right after that.

I'm not so sure that the Shaker face can't be replaced without pulling the dash, but the rest of the surrounding area seems to be one large unit. Right now the dash seems to fit well and have no rattles. I'm wondering if it is worth the risk of having it replaced?

One of the salesman I talked too, said the S197 doesn't require any body shims to align the body panels like most other cars. I'd stop by the service department, and if your dealer has a body shop, they'd be the ones to take a look at it. My 99 GT's trunk lid stuck out a 1/4 inch on one side in the back. There was't anything that could be done about it. The car's body tolerances were just off.

Good luck.

I've had an aftermarket radio installed so I'll have to call foul on the answer from the service tech. IMO it sounds as if they're just trying to avoid correcting their mistake.

I checked mine over real good when I bought it, and the fit and finish are great. I have seen some V-6's come in that had some panels noticably off.......especially around the rear bumper areas. Unfortunately, most mass produced cars are gonna have some issues like this IMO, and that's something that was seconded by the body shop manager when I went in to have a new passenger front, inner fender opening trim put in. The old one had a paper thin area about the size of a quarter dollar
