I know this question has been asked before, but I don't recall anyone answering it, and I couldn't find out anything by searching...

With the factory (optional) alarm on the 05, does it chirp, beep the horn, or something else when arming it?

Also, does it flash the lights?

Lastly, when the alarm goes if, is there actually a siren, or is it just the horn beeping and the lights flashing?

Thanx much.

I pushed the panic button, and it sounds the horn (no siren). I haven't made the actual alarm go off.

When it is armed it flashes the lights. If you hit the lock button on the key FOB twice, then it beeps the horn once (unless a door is open, then it beeps twice). When it goes off, it beeps the horn as well as a horn of slightly different tone.

With the optional factory alarm you have to push the lock buttton on the keypad twice and the lights flash and the horn beeps once. If the alarm goes off the lights flash and the horn beeps repeatedly.

....Guess my fingers are a little too slow today...

I set off the alarm somehow at my in-laws place. I think I must have hit the trunk button or something by accident when I was in the bathroom. The car honks with more than one tone and the lights flash; basically all he11 breaks loose!

I set mine off yesterday. My radar detector fell off the windshield, and the internal motion sensors must have picked it up.

I haven't set my alarm off, but am not sure if and when it is actually activated. Like others have mentioned, if you press the lock button on the key fob once the doors lock and the turn signals and brake lights flash. If you press it twice the same lights flash along with a beep from the horn.

But, my '02 GT went through the same process as my '05, and it didn't have an alarm. So, I'm guessing an '05 without the factory alarm would go through the same process. I just have to assume that my alarm is activated when I lock the doors.

The alarm is activated any time the lock button on the remote is pushed . doesn't matter if the door is open or closed, but once the all doors are closed the system will arm after 30 secs. you can also activate it when you open the door push the lock button on the door, then when door is closed it will arm after 30secs. You can also arm the system so that the interior motion sensors will not activate. To do this close all doors and lock the car with the key.

You can open the trunk any time the system will deactivate the motion sensors for the time the trunk is open the re activate after it is closed.

Sorry for the long post hope this helps

Hi guys and gals I'm new here. I've been reading along for about a month but this is my first post. I have a Sonic blue GT on the way (eta First week of jan) My question is does the stock alarm have a shock senser, or is it just the inside motion detector???

Thanks, Paul

The alarm doesn't have a shock sensor just a motion , as well as a inclination sensor for anti towing . plus the usual if any door or the trunk is openned other than with the key. plus the power lock switches will not work after the alarm is armed . which is 30sec after all doors and trunk are closeed.

Thanks. Now I know how to lock the car with the dog in there. Last time I did that all heck broke loose when she sat it off.

So, did you get all that, Shea?!!

To answer your question, the car doesn't beep or chirp when you alarm it - it HONKS.

Horns don't "beep," people.

Bimmers "beep" when activated, and aftermarket alarms like Alpine "chirp" when activated. The Mustang just flashes the lights and toots the horn like every other inexpensive factory system.

The "active alarm system" is supposed to have a separate, hidden siren, however, but apparently no one was able to answer that question for you.
