DVD Nav - Available Option??

I was just at the dealership and doing a locator search for CS and the option DVD Navigation was available on the screen. I ask the dealer was this an option - and his answer was "It is if it is on the screen". Of course he has know clue about the price etc..

Has anyone heard this or gotten this option yet??

thanks

Mark

Yes, it is available for '07 as an option; made for Ford by Pioneer. It's the same unit that's available for the 500.

I didn't think it was going to show up for ordering until closer to December, though, so it'll be interesting to see what the power output is. I see it still hasn't shown up as an option on Ford's website.

Mark, the Nav option is not yet available. Most likely its a Job#2 add in, and I haven't yet gotten any new updated for ordering guides as of yet. Believe me, once I know when we can place orders for that option, I'll post the info (including pricing for the option) on here.

Thanks for the info - I was suprised to see it as an option on the screen - the guy there acted like it was no big deal...."yep its an option - young man etc.."

Anyone know if it will work with both the Shaker 500 and 1000??

Although, I'm not as upset about it anymore....just picked up a Garmin C330 GPS for $399 on sale at West Marine. This product rocks!!! It has every store, etc. that you would find in the yellow pages. My factory Nav in the Lexus doesn't even have as many points of interests and runs on a DVD. Every street and POI for the 48 states is built into the C330. Touch screen too. Love the fact that you can do a traditional overhead view or the bird's eye view like the Nissan's and Infiniti's do.

Is it a built in system??...no. But for $399, you can't beat the features and the fact that it will get you anywhere.

the best navi i have ever used is telenav on my nextel phone. it downloads the newest info everytime you use it, so its not outdated like all the car dvd based navis. it talks and has maps just like in a car, and i always have it with me. we have been in my boy's g500 benzo, and the factory navi gets us lost and we have to use the telenav to get to where were going!

Car-based NAV systems only get outdated in terms of features (like real-time traffic, etc.). Most - if not all - allow you to get a new DVD every couple of years or so to keep the actual map information up-to-date.

i know, but i have been in the benz mad times and it says like taco bell is here, and its closed, or its a mcdonalds or whatever. or in a place like boston with the big dig, it will have no idea where to tell you to go. the telenav is updated everytime you use it, i have never had it tell me something is where its not anymore. it definetly doesnt look as crispy as having a nice big screen in the dash, that is the only advantage the car based systems have.
