Dreaded P0340 code, NEED HELP!!!

Hi,

Let me start by saying I have searched the forums and still didn't find the answer I need. So now that we have that out of the way let me tell you about my dilemma. I have a 06 GT and it's not stock to say the least, normally I run a Brenspeed 93 octane race tune but for emissions inspections I swap to a 93 octane O2 sensors enabled tune so I can pass. I've been doing this for a few years now and no problem. This time I'm getting the P0340 code but the car is running fine. All the necessary sensors are ready so I can take it to get inspected but I'd like to find out how to get rid of the code. I erase it and it keeps coming back. I saw where some people think its the alternator but it was running just fine until I changed the tune. I've also seen where it says that replacing the camshaft sensor is a 10 minute job, I don't think so I have a Paxton Nuvi 2000 supercharger right in front of it. If I unplug the camshaft sensor and try to remove it will it come out even though the supercharger bracket is right there. How deep does the sensor go into the engine?

Any input would be greatly appreciated, even wise a$$ comments, I could use a laugh.

Not a smart arz question here just explain the differences in same octane tunes? I thought octane was octane the higher you go the more difference there is. I often thought about trying some higher octane in my Boss but wasn't sure if it could or should be done? I'm supposed to run premium all the time of which I do. I have always wondered if a higher octane would make my beast a little beastier but computers and stuff? I do have the red key tune but not sure if that can reprogram to higher octane gas. There is a gas station that sells something like 104/106 race octane not far from me.

I hope I can answer your question. The difference is knock, believe it or not higher octane fuel is a bit harder to ignite or should I say more stable than lower octane fuel. Normally our Mustangs can run on regular pump gas and that's recommended, higher octane won't hurt it but you're wasting money. High octane fuel is used in cars that have one or more of the following; high compression, advanced timing, higher revving, or running hotter and some other instances. 87 octane fuel can ignite under high compression and hotter temps without having been ignited by the spark plug. I accidentally put 87 in my tank and I noticed right away because I heard the engine knocking almost immediately on giving it gas.

The difference in my two 93 octane fuel tunes is one monitors the O2 sensors so I can pass emissions inspection, the other doesn't care what the sensor data being collected it works of the programming Brenspeed came up with when it was Dyno tuned in their shop.

I hope this helps.
